I'm performing at the Edinburgh International Book Festival tomorrow at 3.30!!! Come see the only time that'll ever happen 😂 It's the @iamloudpro.bsky.social Grand Slam so you'll see amazing poets (and me). It's always a fiery, brilliant show. I'm representing Aberdeen so could use friendly faces!
As I've said since the beginning of this nightmare, transphobia is inextricable from ableism. They are the same mechanism producing the same results for the same reason. Any disabled people throwing their lot in with transphobes are sowing the seeds of their own destruction.
The new Prime Minister has set up 'No 10 North', which I'm not opposed to but also...
Our local fash leader is very upset at the 'two-tier policing' because we don't get arrested as often even though we commit terrible hate crimes like calling them Nazis. In the early days, we had to add this to one of our signs after they tried to get us arrested 'under the equality act'.
To everyone rejoicing in Tartan Army posts about Scots at the World Cup, here's why we love seeing our people being celebrated. This is the coverage Scots get in UK media. The Economist is 'respectable'. Whatever the paywalled article actually says, this is the header they chose.
Ah, decade-ago me. We were still in the crisis phase of a global plague the next time they rolled around. I was under siege, watching what we worked for be dragged away by proto-fascists. Screaming thst this wasn't an ordinary political disagreement and we had to DO something. ... 1/2
I saw a puffin! We were there at the wrong time to see lots of puffins but we saw one 🥰 Then we had a fish supper. Doug has much better puffin photos, obviously. Their call is adorable.
Yes, a bunch of us did spend the best part of 45 minutes catching an injured pigeon to take to New Arc Wildlife Rescue. They said it would be OK with a bit of time to recover. Poor wee thing ❤️
I'm competing in the I Am Loud poetry slam tomorrow night at the Lemon Tree - please come along and cheer me on! It starts at 7pm and tickets start at £5.50 (if you want to pay more you can!) I'd love to see you ❤️ www.aberdeenperformingarts.com/whats-on/lou...
It was very lovely to be amongst such a huge crowd of anti-fascist protesters today as we showed up in force to oppose the far-right rally at Holyrood. 1/
These are the men arranging a pro-Nazi rally outside Holyrood on the 21st (when you put four Nazis on the speaker list, nothing else is relevant). Every person of conscience who can make it to counter them is being asked to do so. 3/
Then the 'protectors of women' called women fat cows and posted a video of me (a physically disabled woman) just to say my hair isn't washed to their liking. After making sure I saw them taking photos of my car. 2/
If you're in Aberdeen and free tonight, come see me at the Lemon Tree! I'll be doing some poetry with Loud Poets and there will also be two incredible performers - Griot Gabriel and Aditya Narayan ❤️ tickets are pay what you can starting at £5 www.aberdeenperformingarts.com/whats-on/lou...
Tonight's fash antics: 'what have we ever said that's racist or fascist? [immediately spends 20m yelling about Muslims infiltrating our police, councils and schools which you can tell by looking at the names and pics]... [points at a young Asian woman on our side] She knows the plan. She knows.'
By my count, there were definitely three Nazis at today's Hotel-Shouting. Most of the people there weren't from Aberdeen, so I'm not sure about their numbers. All three were welcomed with open arms, one was given a microphone. They put up a fascist party banner. 1/
The 💖Fash Besties💖 network is gathering in Aberdeen again tomorrow so we'll be out too.
As @dw66.bsky.social pointed out, they've already rejected this logo in November. They've taken off the sword and left the spear. That's not the offensive part!
This is not satire. This is what UKIP have proposed to the electoral commission as their new logo. I just took this screenshot myself. www.electoralcommission.org.uk/political-re...
The last rays of sun set on 2025. We went to Maidencraig to see some ducks and watch the clouds.
My answer to Lucille Clifton's poem 'i am running into a new year'. Thanks to @katieailes.bsky.social and Loud Poets @iamloudpro.bsky.social for the prompt.
Aberdeen Against Illegal Migration are no longer pretending to be just concerned citizens who are totes fine with brown people, just not 'illegals' - in their poster for their next protest they've included the white supremacist slogan 'Remigration'. 1/
Come out on Sunday to our festive party! Yes, there will unfortunately also be some fascists yelling 'christ is king' then insisting there's no room at the inn and we should send them back to Herod. Come help us show them this season, whatever your faith or lack of it, is about generosity and love.
CN: fash shithead bullying Alongside the really sinister one, he also posted this on my photo from Halloween. Funny story - I used to think thst too!
That night, one of the more violent members of AAIM posted 'we see you' on the announcement of my mother's death. 7/
For the next half hour, individuals kept trying to get past the barriers and into the crowd. It is pure luck that nobody was seriously injured. They have been crowing about their attack (occasionally remembering they're supposed to pretend to be the victims). 6/
The first speaker had just begun when they surrounded her at the top of the stone steps, towering over her, yelling and filming themselves. When our people tried to get between them to protect her, the fascists attacked. 3/
