Since its 97 feckin’ degrees, wore my most Irish aloha shirt to St. Paddy’s day dinner. 🌺 ☘️ Also made 10 lbs of colcannon to go with sister’s corned beef & Cole slaw (tradition Dad started way back when). 😋

Well I didn’t see a girl in a flatbed Ford. But standing in a truck stop I did see a fire engine, my lord.

Grr…didn’t take a final photo out of the oven before serving, but here’s the final product. And it’s delicious. All the flavors melded so well. 😋

Out of the oven after first hour and a half showing the start of the lovely brown crust, which was broken & then the chicken added back in. Now in the oven for the last hour and a half.

Aromatics removed, pork/sausage mixed in, and ready to go in the oven. Cooks for an hour and a half before the chicken gets added for the second hour and a half. Plus have to break the crust several times (tradition says 7 apparently) to let it brown up nicely on top.

Now sitting down for a few while the beans, onion, & aromatics (carrot, celery, a head of garlic, bay leaves & cloves) simmer in the stock. The aromatics will be fished out before the next step.

Drained most of the fat & deglazing the Dutch oven with the chopped onion to get all the fond up from the bottom - pure flavor.

Sausage browning. Could t find a “garlic sausage” like the recipe called for so using “sweet” Italian sausage.

Beans soaked in brine overnight & ready to go in the stock with the aromatics once the meats are done. Also shown is the bowl of pork.

Since it’s a cool rainy day, making another attempt at cassoulet. Using a different non-Instant Pot recipe this time that slow cooks in oven for 3 hours. Browned the pork shoulder & salt pork already with duck fat, now browning the chicken in the renderings (sausage to follow).

It’s a tritip night. Salsa-topped tonight in keeping with the Santa Maria tradition..even if it’s mashed potato instead of the traditional pinquito beans.

Shrimp & grits was a success.

Then I put @elleqsabine.bsky.social over my knee because it’s good to be the Daddy. Plus she wore my favorite skirt of hers for my birthday. Can you tell why I love this skirt so much? I was nice & only gave her 50 with my hand though, not the paddle.

Daughter ran to the grocery store. So I got an unexpected birthday spanking from @elleqsabine.bsky.social. 50 swats with the Miss Rose spalted hickory paddle.

Wife gave me a big shop fan for father’s Day & I’m rather enjoying having it blowing on me as I recover from yardwork. 🥵

Not sure if this is a life milestone, but I now own a pair of Birkenstock sandals. I’ve tried-on the classic two-strap/open-back Arizonas a couple times & didn’t like the lack of a heel strap. But they apparently started making a version called the Milano with a heel strap in ‘23 so got a pair.

That first one is narrower than most - it’s the middle one in the collection bellow. I bought the bottom One to get a more traditional shape. It’s heavier than the original due to more wood, but spreads the impact out more so feels different. Top is a clothes brush from a London gentleman’s club.

Daughter made strawberry shortcake with the biscuit shortcake recipe I discovered. Let’s see if she’s my daughter culinarily.

Daughter went for a walk, so I got to put this neglected girl over my knee for a few minutes. Her panties looked so nice on her bottom that I had to warm the seat of them before I pulled them down & moved on to her bare buns. @elleqsabine.bsky.social

Got dinner from this Chinese place again. Tell daughter the story about fortune cookie coupon as she’s passing out the cookies army the end. Much incredulity & laughter. Daughter gets normal fortune. Wife gets normal fortune. I get…50% off coupon this time. 🤪

Went to the local hole-in-the wall Chinese place for lunch today. Thought the fortune in my fortune cookie was a bit odd. And then I turned it over & realized it was a coupon/ad for 3Day Blinds. 🙄 Signs of late-stage capitalism much?

Ohh, I’ve done that too! Made this punishment form for a “spanked at school/spanked at home” scene with a friend, among others. I made the form this shade of blue because it was the same as the “blue slips” my elementary school used for (non-corporal) disciplinary notices sent home to parents.

Got a big container of kimchi at Costco last week. Been enjoying it but wanted to try something different, so made a kimchi pancake (kimchi-jeon or kimchi-buchimgae) for breakfast. Very tasty!

Well, the 3 times I’ve done it I’ve gone with the obvious choice (for me). It’s always popular & usually on the bingo card, so I’m usually “in demand”. For advice, I’d say go for something relatively comfortable if you’re topping as you can get pretty warm dishing out the spanks. (continued)
