My sister got a new dog. She is apparently as energetic as I am.

I'll often pick up a book if the author is cool on social media. I don't look what it is about first. If they are a decent person, I trust the book will be too. This has very rarely steered me wrong. Today's excellent read by a cool person is The Boddicker Letters by @aaronccross.bsky.social

Ortus looking particularly photogenic this evening.

My ace pride knights patches arrived.

Two round patches.

It's hailing which makes it excellent bean weather. These green baby limas from @ranchogordo.bsky.social are great.

Very wet ground with hail. The ground is muddy with a little grass trying to grow in Southern Arizona.

Twiglets - they are crunchy and taste like marmite. A staple of every party/gathering when I was a kid

Description- a bag of snack which is mostly black. On a red stripe it says Twiglets and below on a blue stripe it says oven baked not fried. There are also 3 twiglets on the package a pretzel stick looking snack item.

Frito bake or frito pie in some places. A staple of the school cafeteria. Chili, heavy on the beans, topped with frito corn chips. Spicy, salty, comforting

Trifle- a layered dessert - cake, jello and fruit, custard/pudding and whipped cream. The one pictured is strawberry. There are different varieties - one with chocolate pudding and oranges, one with almonds and raspberries etc.

My mom's go-to dessert growing up.

A baked potatoes with baked beans and cheese. It's simple. It's filling. It's cheap. I still eat this at least twice a month. Sometimes more. You can add onion, or chopped up bacon/hotdogs. You could add chili or pretty much anything. In the UK they seem to be adding tuna salad lately. That is an abomination unto Nuggin (but more power to you if you like that kind of thing)

Today I finished InSects by @thesharkqueen.com and Tobin Elliot. This was a really good read. Not what I expected, but I was very happy with what I got. I've read solo works by both so figured a collaboration would be excellent. I am glad to say I was right.

Last night I finished Time of Death: a collection of medical horror by @drspookyer.bsky.social This was a really fun read (fun in a horror sense). Plagues, worms, zombies, serial killers, creepy nun, and references to rectal foreign objects. It has it all. An excellently entertaining read.

I recently finished Shadowbride by @michellefranklin.bsky.social. The continued adventures of Maedlynn and Darren continue to get better. The awesome supporting (some would say most important characters) cast returns in Searle, Agatha, and Mr. Hatley. And a new adorable addition joins the crew.

Lunch was comfort food for me and also a chance to try something new. I liked the chilled jellyfish, my wife not so much.

Chilled jelly fish - it looks like brown noodles with sesame seeds in a white bowl. It had a noodle like texture but just a touch of squish which my wife did not care for. A nice sesame flavor with a bit of heat.

Comfort food! Congee (rice porridge) with century egg and shredded pork. Green onions floating on top.

My wife's eggplant and pork in tangy sauce. It was excellent and in a cast iron pot to keep it hot.

Dinner last night was really good. Gnocchi, boudin blanc with potato puree, and various cheeses. My wife and I always order dishes we think we'd both like and end up sharing them.
