That was a bit awkward.

A lesser black backed gull fledgling having a false start, or doing some odd wing/balance training. Its two legs are perched on the top of the roof. It was facing away from the camera as it started its move. The camera caught it head down, tail up, with both wings spread wide. The wings are now very dark, the belly is lighter.
Whether it intended to fly or just tested its balance.. who knows. It quickly got back to an upright position.

Seagulls everywhere! It turns out there's another fledgling (some weeks older) on a nearby roof. And I'm now so attuned to seagull chicks' cries that I now recognise them out on walks, even when I can't see them.

Such big babies now! Still babies, as they still rely on their parents so much and still do their baby cries for attention. But they'll be flying away very soon now. No audio because the usual crappy background noise - then I did a loud gasp and I think you'll know exactly when!

Yes, the cover art is AI-assister. I also create all of the ambient music myself using AI as a creative tool, then carefully choose, refine, and arrange each piece to match the atmosphere I want. I especially love creating flute-focused ambient music. (music notes and leaf emojis)

Finally a bit about sunlight and they're near fledglings now. I missed getting a shot of one testing its wings from the top of the roof, hopefully I get another chance before it's too late! #BirdingScotland

Gull chicks update: it was windy this weekend and they spent a lot of time on the more sheltered far side of the roof . (Sat. dish + chimney provided much needed shade before that) But they're starting to look like proper little gulls now, not babies anymore! #BirdingScotland

But you can start to see the pattern on the feathers underneath the down a lot more now. Clearly less down now. Their center of gravity has shifted and the posture is much like adults, no more standing upright.

The Church obviously couldn't let pagan celebrations go unclaimed, and so June 24th became dedicated to John The Baptist and "la Saint-Jean". Unusually, this didn't lead to religious celebrations, and the traditional bonfires carried on, known as "Les Feux de la Saint-Jean" #WyrdWednesday

they've been very active this weekend! and mama gull took them on a walk near the edge of the roof today, they're really growing. (i gather from the internet that urban gulls are supposed to nest on flat roofs but these seem to cope fine with the slant)

A slightly wider shot, almost all the chimney stack is visible. An adult lesser black backed gull is on a chimney flue pecking at something (and otherwise surveilling surroundings). One of its chick is standing near the nest behind the chimney stack. Enough light to see a whiter patch of down on its chest, and speckles on its head.

I had better luck during the evening routine yesterday (parent calling as it brings back food, then picking moss to refresh the nest).

Another slightly blurry pic - adult lesser black backed gull on a roof, there's one chick right behind it but you can barely make that out. The second chick is walking back up the roof and it has its tiny wings spread out wide and despite the blurry pic you can make out how fluffy they are.

I would have brought you a seagull chicks update sooner, but it turns out the roof is v.good for camo, esp. under grey skies, and the two chicks spend most of their time hidden by the chimney or on the other side of the roof. This shot is as good I could get for most of the week. #BirdingScotland

I noticed a little grey fluffy thing on the roof across the road on Fri., and I must say I'm now getting invested in that lesser black backed gull and her two chicks as I don't think I'd seen such tiny ones in the wild before! I've only seen the one today and I'm a little pessimistic about #2 :(

When I was around 9, I had one of these and a few 7" singles that I would play on repeat. The first "album" I got (on cassette) was a compilation (similar to "Now!.."). I don't think full albums really came in until I started secondary school.
