New book. :) I’ve only read the intro so far but I’m really excited to dive into it. I have been learning about Kantha (Bengali embroidery on recycled textiles such as saris) for a couple months. It’s a fascinating subject.
Old piece from 2021. My illustration work led me away from this concept but I’m really excited to revisit this design of people made from swooping, flower petal inspired shapes. My recent sketches are promising, and I’ll update with examples another day. :)
I was experimenting with art again last month, making black and white flower drawings. No matter the medium, I didn’t enjoy the process or the outcome. It is time to move on. Untitled study - Ink on paper.
Finally, pictures of my most recently finished crochet project. The pattern is lacy, but the wool is warm. Pattern by Rachel Beth - www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib...
14 days in the May sampler, and I missed 2 days :( I’ve been really busy and tired. I have enjoyed carving time in my day to do something peaceful for myself, but it’s been difficult to shake the guilt that comes with (attempted) relaxation. I’ll keep at it. #embroidery
I’m challenging myself to stitch every day this month. I colored the fabric with Inktense sticks, ironed, and now it’s ready to go. Maybe I’ll draw something for Mermay as well.
“An Ending” (study of a dying rose) 2026 - graphite on paper I’m redoing my floral/botanical portfolio. I don’t plan on returning to working as an artist, but an updated portfolio sounds like a nice personal goal. It will take a couple of years at least. #drawing #floralart
“Salome with the Head of St. John the Baptist” by Carlo Dolci I saw this painting Saturday and Salome’s clothing is so beautifully painted as if you could feel the silky material. The painting so soft that it seemed to float above the canvas. I don’t think I stood in front of it long enough.
I’m so proud of myself for now being able to crochet this beautiful square motif. I saved it years ago. The pattern is well-written and easy to follow. Pattern by Diana Krenz - www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib... (They have a book now too).

“I am burdened with faith in you.” 2025 graphite study (repost with signature)
Periwinkles in progress. I want to paint them in watercolor. After an initial line sketch is done and transferred onto both the drawing and watercolor papers, I make a value study in pencil. Painting goes faster with the values mapped out. #drawing #floralart
“She no longer graces me with her song.” 2025 - Ink on paper I don’t know if I posted this here before. #inkdrawing #blackandwhiteart
In Feb I tried out an inexpensive set of oil pastels to see if I’d like the medium. I need to make more attempts but I’m still having a hard time drawing right now. Lesson learned though - no white paper next time.
Too many shadows for good photos today :( On to the next doodle, but I’m going to load a YouTube video first. #sketchbook
It’s been a while since my last flower doodle page. Ballpoint pen edition slowly in progress #sketchbook
Stop here today. This is a “meditation” hoop that I just strait stitch on while listening to music or watching tv. Maybe I can attach all the resulting squares when I’m done and make a hanging?
I’m in a lot of pain today, so I’m not sure I’ll get to any of my projects. I can still stitch together scraps though. ✨💪🏾✨
I would like to revisit this in the future without the stickers of course. Actually I want to draw all my mer-people but there are over 10 and I don’t have enough confidence in my drawing right now. I’ll get over it. #inksketch #sketchbook #mermaid
