AC that blows dust that causes respiratory infections and chest coughs, drinking water that causes stomach illness and diarrhea, and sometimes frozen and raw food, are among the inhumane conditions at Eloy Detention Center, all listed in a letter signed by 120 people currently detained there.

All petitioners had been granted relief under the Convention Against Torture or Withholding of Removal but remained detained while the government attempted to effectuate third country removals.

On Monday, June 29, the District Court of Arizona granted a petition for habeas corpus (the right to ask a court to decide whether someone is being detained legally) on behalf of nine petitioners who had been detained for between six months and a year after winning protection in immigration court.
