The Wasteland Commons is a set of 5 post-apocalyptic wasteland settlement battlemaps centered around a scrappy, self-sufficient community fighting to stay independent on the outskirts of a ruined city. Glowing blue goodness! These alien crystals are almost certainly worth harvesting, but it's a bit difficult on unstable terrain. Not to mention the native creatures that seem eerily protective of the luminescent structures, and that will aggressively fight against all sorts of mineral extraction!

The valley splits open to make way for a small and slithering river. Its silvery waters separate vast open fields displaying plentiful crops and a little grim village at the bottom of a cliff. Feeble plumes of smoke linger above the chimneys of the decrepit village houses. Dim light flickers behind the rare windows.

The small church of Saint Festal has always been a beacon of hope for the small town’s citizens, a reprieve from the land’s constant hostility and encroaching mists. There, the townsfolk would meditate, pray and discuss politics in hushed tones, barely able to recognize their interlocutor’s face in the dim glow of the candlelight. A pale, blighted sunray would illuminate the stained glass windows from time to time; a bleak reminder of a bygone golden age.

The gentle waves wash dead leaves against the muddy shore. A rickety rowboat floats against the rotting dock. In the distance, you notice a small island protruding from the dark waters. Your destination. You hope nothing lurks within the lake, for a gentle breeze would be enough to sink this shabby boat. With a sigh, you embark under the starlight with your party, your weapons at the ready, muttering a quick prayer under your breath.

How many pleas? How many missives? How many insufferable nobles and pompous citizens did she endure within the four walls of her office…the ambassador wondered while writing the final lines of a long letter destined to reach the dwarven kingdom in a few weeks.

I always wondered which gnome man owned the land between two warring armies. Not a lucky guy! Anyway, war is hell and it never changes. Whether this battlefield is just old or rather ancient, cursed by some forgotten magic never to return to its once verdant glory, this site still bears the scars of hard-fought battle. A perfect place to make camp!

For days he stumbled amidst the windswept dunes of this now dead sea. One night, his half-crazed eyes met the curious vestiges of a long forgotten structure. Broken pillars of black onyx reflected the pallid moonlight. Beyond stood the gaping maw of a tenebrous cavern. He could hear the abyss calling him forth. Was this the voice he heard in his desperation years ago?

The Gleaming Gorge extends for miles under the searing sun, like a gigantic scar on the surface of the earth, left over in the aftermath of some titanic battle between gods or giants. The narrow corridor is well-known for two things. Firstly, it is the shortest route to the city of Sanskhas Heights, in the desert mountains. Secondly, the gorge is a well-known ambush spot for a variety of high-end thieves and cut-throats hunting down caravans and well-equipped mercenary groups.
