The Fox and Goose
@foxandgoose
West Yorkshire's first community-owned pub. We celebrate local brewers. 7 Heptonstall Road, Hebden Bridge. HX7 6AZ. info@foxandgoose.org
1/ On 8 August we celebrate the 12th anniversary of our #cooperative pub. Unlike the dreadful #AI slop below, the Fox and Goose was built by humans, for humans (and their dogs). Community and connection feel more important than ever, so why not join us for a pint tomorrow. #HebdenBridge
2/ So tasty that he's already wishing he'd bought more (he has a bigger cellar on his Christmas list). He's also really looking forward to Brand X, an old school IPA from Wilde Child Brewing Co. We've music from the Kismet DJs and food from Cuckoo Stone Pizza on Saturday, hope you can join us.
1/ It's our anniversary weekend and Andrew's been sourcing some liquid treats for our party tomorrow. He's chuffed to have got re-brews of a couple of our recent collabs: Frank from @bingleybrewery.bsky.social and Good for the Goose from Pictish Brewing Company; both tasty hoppy pales. #BskyBeer
On Saturday 8th August we'll be celebrating the Fox & Goose's 12th birthday as a co-op pub with a garden party. There'll be pizza from our friends at Cuckoo Stone Pizza from 2-7pm, and we do hope you can join us to raise a glass to 12 years of coming together as a community.
Big love to all taking part in the @happyvalleypride.bsky.social Decade Parade today. 🏳️🌈 Hebden bloody loves a parade.
2/ We've also got a British hopped Baltic Porter from Abbeydale, and pales from Anthology and Weekend Project, which we're sure will all be too good to miss. Follow us @realalefinder.com to make sure you don't. #BskyBeer
Now then, were I down at the Fox today I'd be after a pint of this Brown Ale from Anthology. Why? Every beer I've tasted from this Leeds brewery has been fantastic. Moreover, there are some amazing classic browns and bests around, which seem to taste all the nicer after being drowned in IPAs.
And the prize for amusing beer name of the week goes to this Skipton X Bingley East Coast IPA mashup: East of Scarbados. 👏 Sterling work there, and currently on if you want to know whether it tastes as delicious. #BeerSky
We popped to #Ilkley for the community music festival, and had to head to the Bini Brew Co taproom when we needed refreshments. It was great to try their new beers and hope we can get some soon.
It's a big summer weekend in #HebdenBridge. We've got Open Studios all weekend and the Heptonstall festival on Saturday. Whether you're walking round the studios, or up or down the hill to Hepfest, pop in to fortify yourself with our brilliant beer. And some crisps.
Bored on the 4th July? Come down to the Fox, and enjoy some old time mountain music, courtesy of the ever excellent Square Peg.
Andrew recently joined Adrian and Rob @wishbonebrewery.bsky.social to help them with a 2000 litre brew of our popular Gaggle Lager. Thanks for making him so welcome, although he wouldn't have minded a hand with the mash. The first kegs arrived this week and it's now officially #GF. 👍
This Sunday, the What the Folk? disc jockeys will be dropping some odd numbers in the beer garden. Splendid. #HebdenBridge
Exciting news, the weather means that you can experience a Scottish summer holiday right here in Calderdale! To help your hygge we've got some comforting stouts on. We've got uber local Batfink from Nightjar on now, with this lush sounding Breakfast Stout from @redwillowbrewery.bsky.social queued
And should you want to sample some of Leeds' brilliant small indie brewers we've got these two on from Anthology and Amity right now.
FINALLY some perfect beer garden weather ahead. And the beer garden is looking fabulous right now, new planting and the fresh vibrant green of our woodland. It's lush. As ever we have some great beers and ciders on for you this weekend. Hope you can join us. 💚
3/ Another asset, a sensational and reasonably priced beer offer thanks to Andrew's hard work. Our selection today. #Beersky Can particularly recommend Pangoltergeist from Tartarus, at 6.2% the black IPA is not for sessions but it's complex and delicious.
REMINDER TO OUR MEMBERS 🦊🪿 It's our AGM this Saturday, all members welcome. Come for the free beer token, stay for the annual report. Also stay for a chance to discuss the pub and co-op with management and directors, and have your say on our present, and our future. Then to the pub.
We need more help in our woodland on Sunday for a second go at the balsam. We're nearly there, so if you can spare an hour or two between 1030 and 130, we'd be super grateful and there's a pint in it for you. Wear trousers and long sleeves though ⚠️
1/ It's BLACK IPA MAY. 🖤 Andrew's found us three crackers. First up, Trail Mix, a collaboration between two great breweries, Coley's Brewery and Weekend Project. It's actually one half of the collaboration, alongside a white IPA, made with 50% wheat. #BskyBeer
4/ Gives you a thirst and an appetite. Thanks to Hannah for the soup and homemade breads, and to Andrew for sourcing Thriae from Tartarus, a delicious hazy 3.4% IPA that made for a very agreeable post work session. Really looking forward to seeing how everything beds in. Thank you again! 💚
2/ The beds, pots and containers you weeded and planted look amazing. Once again we're indebted to our garden guru Nicki for advice and sourcing.
1/ A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers who came down on Sunday to help out with our garden and woodland. You're absolute stars. 💚 #HebdenBridge
2/ First up is @uddersorchardcider.bsky.social Mixed Russet at a solid 8.1%. Something lighter? Medium sweet Suzie's Catch is an easygoing 5.5%. Starting early? Perhaps go for Iford's Wild Juice at 4.5%. If you fancy some cider inside your insides this weekend - hopefully we've got you covered.
We're busy sprucing up our multi-storey beer garden for the summer. Slabs and canopy have been jet washed, new furniture ordered, planting this weekend and a wall repaired. The garden is such a refuge when Hebden is full of visitors each weekend.
Love and solidarity to our friends down the hill at Drink? #HebdenBridge who've sadly had to deal with some bigoted visitors this weekend. Our places are safe spaces and not the place for you.
So many beers to keep track of these days... This time last year we had an amazing tap takeover by Neepsend brewery. They make beautiful beers and lovely memories. We have Mataaho and the dark Thanatos on right now, and Alcis waiting in the wings, a lovely session brew. #HebdenBridge #BeerSky
