I’ve been (quietly) doing a Game of Thrones rewatch and tonight I’ll be rewatching the epic Battle of the Bastards. Hard to believe this episode is 10 years old! I say quietly because I seem to post threads when I’m doing rewatches and somewhere along the way I stop and forget to go back. 🤣
Tegan was horrified the Doctor hadn’t bothered to use the roll-on deodorant she’d bought him last week…
This week we're joined by the lovely Melvin Peña as we delve into this very different story. Who loves it? Who hates it? Who sits in the middle? And who was born on the broadcast date of part 2...? @melvinpena.bsky.social @jeffgoddard.bsky.social anchor.fm/drwho-whats-...
There’s still time to catch up on Lucy, Jeff and me discussing this warm-hug of a story. We also take time out to discuss the future of Doctor Who… And this weekend we’ll be heading to the 1920’s…
Half Marathon Training: Run 86 - I'm running today, tomorrow and Sunday so decided on short runs this week. But I also pushed myself a little bit with my speed and apparently this is my fastest run this year! The cooler weather definitely helped. Next week I'll aim for 15 or 16K
1.5 - The Violet Hour - My favourite so far! Mediums in 1920’s England just calls to me. There’s some really lovely, gentle music in this one, and a resolution that was incredibly emotional. Gives me Unquiet Dead vibes too. Love the Doctor’s “aww, thanks,” at being called a school teacher. 🤣 8.5/10
I took this today and it might be one of my favourite pics that I’ve taken! 😍🐝
My latest read. I’ve just finished this and what a beautiful, life-affirming book it is. I laughed and cried and got caught up in Nora Seed’s many lives. I didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait to see the upcoming film (with Florence Pugh!)
We're back with Lucy for parts 3 and 4 of The Visitation, celebrating what is, for all three of us, quite a favourite. But we also talk about the future of Doctor Who and, of all things, Star Wars and Midsomer Murders...! @lucymccaul.bsky.social @jeffgoddard.bsky.social anchor.fm/drwho-whats-...
1.4 - Ride Or Die - Feels very NA-like. The Banshees are an intriguing creation and the world feels real. Some good right-turns in the story, and it's great to delve into Yaz's sexuality and flesh out her feelings for the Doctor. The season arc bubbles to the surface too. Decent. 7/10
One of my all time favourite bits from a Doctor Who book. The novelisation of The Dæmons. 🤩
Stay out of the sun, close the curtains and pop on your podcast catcher of choice! It’s Lucy, Jeff and me chatting - very enthusiastically - about the glorious Visitation! And this weekend we’ll be talking parts three and four…
1.3 - Lionesses in Winter - This was a huge step up from the last. A creepy ghost story for Christmas set in a part of history I don't know much about. The sound work is great and there are some genuinely chilling, as well as touching, moments. More like this! Jodie and Mandip a delight again! 8/10
1.2 - The Return of the Doctor - I'll be honest - I wasn't a fan. It felt thinly plotted and empty. But let's focus on the good - Jodie, Mandip, of course, and the Doctor returning to a world she left behind and seeing the consequences is a great idea. Average, but the next one is great... 5/10
Half Marathon Training: Run 85 - Foolish to run in this heat? Maybe. But it did mean that I finally managed 15K. And to be honest…it was hard but it wasn’t unbearably hard. So I’m overjoyed that I managed it. 6K more and I hit the half marathon distance. 😁
Have you forgotten what happened last time there was an eclipse? Well, have you?!!! #Neighbours
It’s very fresh this morning. It was nice biking in it and managing to cool off a little.
Just finished my latest book whilst battling a post-run headache. It’s been a long time since I’ve read a Jeremy Robinson book and this reminded me how much I love his writing. Vivid and likeable characters, snappy dialogue, intriguing plots and brilliant twists. A great read. 😁
Half Marathon Training: Run 84 - I dropped Jacob back with his mum and ran home. 6K. In the heat. There was barely any air but I made it. It was a tough one for sure. I’ll probably aim for a long one mid-week now.
