Tomorrow 3 July, we host A Capetonian Quintet’s 𝐹𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑖𝑛 𝑀𝑒𝑑𝑖𝑎𝑠 𝑅𝑒𝑠 — a musical performance reclaiming colonial Dutch music as an act of resistance. It aims to widen the focus of queer stories, which often centre on fear and precarity, by sharing accounts of hope in which love supersedes fear. Impact Makers brought together 15 queer refugees from around the world for a series of workshops to familiarise participants with aspects of film-making.

From 𝟐𝟔 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝟏𝟑 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭, we host 𝑀𝑜𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐿𝑜𝑣𝑒, a project by Impact Makers, LIMBO and Skill School, for and by queer refugees. 𝑀𝑜𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐿𝑜𝑣𝑒 is about the journey one takes to stay true to who they are and who they love – and for queer people, this journey is often riddled with uncertainty and risk.
