Yep. Loved my Jaguar XJ8, although it had eye-watering repair bills.
I could certainly live with the 5 litre V8, but perhaps not the colour.
Sunday observance is in full swing. CB750F started first touch of the button. A spirited, breezy run along the A14. Coffee (£!1) and a good read in the hut. Might have to add “Fighters” to the expanding aviation library. Frank is chilled.
To Nowton ParkRun on the CB750F. Do you ever get that feeling, “Can’t ever sell this bike”? Seems to be happening more frequently these days.
In a sweaty labour of love, I have cleaned the grannymobile, a seven-seater behemoth, without water - given the hosepipe ban. Such is my dislike of dirty cars.
Morning coffee at Clacket Lane. 100 miles in. Longest run for a while. Certainly clears the head. Just thinking road.
Sunday observance at Rougham Tower. A gentle cruise on the CB750. Started on the button. That’s regular use for you. Lovely little kit car already on site.
The VFR project advances with a new mudguard, front brake lever and clutch cover to replace damaged items. Had a good clean, too. Looking much tidier now.
Went to Wivenhoe, Essex, yesterday, for the regatta. It lies on the River Colne. Stumbled upon this workshop. Classic builds!
Bimble on the CB750 to Rougham Tower, which was closed. Diversion to Krazy Horse, another hidey-hole, where’s there’s always decent coffee and some interesting metal to see.
At Rougham Tower today. My dad would have known his way round this wireless.
To Nowton ParkRun for two sweaty laps. Saw these machines parked up. Wonderfully eccentric! Made my day.
Tinkering and fettling in today’s heat. Broken fairings removed. Locks lubricated. Tank drained. Seat off. Jump leads on. Dash lights after a 25-year sleep. And the engine turned over. Hondas are amazing machines. A satisfying morning’s work.
I seem to have acquired a few more motorbikes … First up is this battered VFR750 It’s lived a life. Can’t beat a project.
Some short sentences coming your way: You’re losing your appeal. Have a refresher. I’m obliged.
My dad and his pals. 104 Operational Training Unit, Nutts Corner. 1943.
Here I am with Engels and Marx, in East Berlin. (They weren’t very chatty: stoney-faced in fact.)
The folks. Immediate post-war. Probably in Poole, Dorset. They look to be on a motorbike.
The Suffolk Cafe Morning coffee and a whopper of a cheese scone. (Not for me, I hasten to add.)
