Big congrats to the lads from Falkirk Walking Football, who won their first trophy yesterday, at the Newmains Walking Football Festival. I wasn't playing obviously (we won, after all) but a pleasure to play with these guys every week. I'd heartily recommend walking football to anyone, great fun.
One of my favourite British bands of this era, this is a very nicely packaged collection of their (now quite pricey!) first four eps. Great band.
Continuing my Saturday rockathon with this, the final Alice Cooper (when they were an actual band, not just Alice) album. The run of records from Love It To Death to this is glorious.
This is the record that should have launched UFO to superstardom, an epic, experimental Springsteen inspired masterpiece, it sank without a trace on release in 1981 but I’m glad to see it now gets the love it deserves. A hands-down all timer.
Sad news, I’m just hearing the great Scottish comedian Paul Sneddon has passed. You might know him better as his characters, Vladimir McTavish or Bob Doolally. Just a really funny, nice fella. RIP.
Away back in the mists of time, when I used to work at the Wellington St. Missing Records, we’d occasionally challenge each another to pick something we didn’t know when it was our turn to play a record. Think this is the only one I bought the second it finished playing.

I’m listening to Eureka by Jim O’Rourke, a wonderful record from 1999 on Domino. Among the excellent tracks, the version of Bacharach & David’s “Something Big” for me, very slightly improves on the fantastic original version. The vocal and horn arrangements are superb. Wonderful record.

Many thanks to the Heated Rivalry fanbase, who I’m presuming is the reason Wolf Parade’s 2005 album Apologies to the Queen Mary has got a nice re-issue. Listening to it now and it’s great.
