I bought a bike! Or, well, a part of the meager inheritance I got from my dad bought me a bike. We went out for its maiden voyage today (my partner already has her own - very cute and very stickered - bike). After coming home my entire body is filled with stardust. This is what it's all about.

Look, I'm prone to hyperbole, it comes with the ADHD package. But I am not kidding in the slightest when I say that it took me 20 years to work up the courage to arrange this part of "Moon" from Within a Deep Forest. It's such a beautiful, tender part of the track. I wasn't ready until now.

The result of tonight's short stream! I didn't have much inspiration so I just played a quick flute melody, then wrote the backing around it. I think it turned out pretty nice. :)

Saw this and had to share. Excellently put.

Artists are now faced with the discussion of whose labor matters more than others.
You see an author with an AI-generated book cover saying “But it’s all my own words.”
You see a songwriter with an AI-generated arrangement saying “But I wrote all the lyrics.”
You see a composer with a fully AI-orchestrated piece saying “but the melodic ideas are all mine.”
You see a producer who gets their music mixed by AI saying “but I made the beat.”
The thing is, adopting this particular stance requires that you devalue one type of labor to justify its automation and replacement.
Adopting this particular stance forces a hierarchy of artistic nobility where one’s own labor is somehow elevated and sublime -
While the labor of those we rely on to bring something to complete fruition is made to seem like something… base, menial, tedious, a chore, an inconvenience.
As though somehow all the specialized tasks involved in creating something truly great are no more than an obstacle to the realization of one’s personal ideas.
This, of course, is grade A horse manure.
And eventually, that avalanche of shit will come down upon your head and similarly erase what relevance you may have thought you had in favor of the wave of bodies you so thoughtlessly rode on your way to an imagined artistic freedom.
And all that will be left is a landscape of turds stretching to the infinite horizon.
When the deluge has ceased, flowers will bloom again.

This is my modest little graph view for now! I started with "You learn when you teach" which I heard in a YouTube video, and that then got me thinking about rubberducking, which got me to the Feynman technique through some googling. I can see them tied together now in Obsidian and that's cool!
