Shouting into the Blue void to see who answers. Looking for cats, records, books and horror with less nonsense. #MusicChallenge #MusicSky ROC born & raised, sometimes missing my adopted JC home.
#MusicSky #NowListening Yard Act - You’re Gonna Need A Little Music @dinkededition.bsky.social of the new @yardact.bsky.social arrived today from @waxandbeans.bsky.social so time to go in for a first listen.
They came from Planet Claire to take my top vote for #5DebutAlbumsSF2 … and if they make it through, my choice for the whole shebang.
#NowListening #MusicSky #5DebutAlbumsSF2 Kim Deal - Nobody Loves You More In 30-40 years this will be held in the same high regard as the behemoths it’s up against in this challenge (some of us do already)…get on board now and save trouble later.
There’s nothing to fear it’s just another round of #ArtistFaveLP , this time featuring one of my very first (and still very favorite) LPs.
#NowListening #MusicSky feeble little horse - Bitknot The physical copy of my favorite album of 2026 so far has arrived and it’s a lovely package.
#5DebutAlbumsSF1 Björk - Debut I couldn’t find room for it in its qualifying round but I can fix that here; an endlessly adventurous journey through the early 90’s dance scene where the remixes on the singles are as important to the story as the album itself.
A few days late for this round of #ArtistFave15 but the 6th month of the year seems an appropriate time to celebrate America’s Most Dangerous Kult; 15 of my favorites from My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, specifically the Wax Trax! and Interscope years. (Apols to the Red Ant/Ryko albums.)
#5DebutAlbums2026 Fat Dog - WOOF. Aggressively blending together a little bit of everything to form a deliciously hyperactive punk/pop/electro stew, it pretty much sounds exactly like you’d expect; a spiritual successor to Klaxons, perhaps? Why not.
#5DebutAlbums2026 Kim Deal - Nobody Loves You More Sunday night wind-down with my number 1 for this round; it’s incredible that 35+ years into a storied career she pulled this stunner out. One of her finest in a legacy of classics.
#5DebutAlbums2026 Wet Leg - Wet Leg It could have been a disaster but they managed to turn a pair of viral singles into an album full of heart and humor. 4 years on and I’m still as in awe of it as I was on my first listen; this is one for the ages.
#goodmailday thanks to @normanrecords.com Thrilled to finally have @untruth-band.bsky.social debut on LP (and double LP expanded edition, I couldn’t choose just one) and the new Early Years on @soniccathedral.bsky.social is an (ahem) early favorite for the year.
#MusicSky #NewMusic feeble little horse - bitknot If you need me, I’ll be spending the day listening to the new feeble little horse on repeat via @bandcamp.com
#5DebutAlbums2026 Public Practice - Gentle Grip Only album from New Wave-inspired act. Debut EP ‘Distance Is A Mirror’ is incredible, the album is definitely less immediate but I appreciate it for its Waitresses vibes.
#5DebutAlbums2026 Das Koolies - DK01 The mythical SFA side project made real: 4/5 of the boys get back together and create the mind-melting, genre-hopping extravaganza we only dared dream of in the 90’s.
Laundromat - En Bloc This won’t count for #5DebutAlbums2026 as it’s a compilation of three previously released EPs, but if it did it may have been my number 1. These 9 songs got me excited about music in a way that made me feel like a kid again, I cannot spread the word about this project enough.
Shortlist for #5DebutAlbums2026 … I thought it would be a bit longer to be honest, but it turns out a lot of the artists I thought debuted in this period actually came out in 2018/2019. Curious to see what else is out there as the weeks go on.
Afternoon Richard, Here are my selections for #5DebutAlbums9599 1 GusGus - Polydistortion 2 Ultrasound - Everything Picture 3 Superdrag - Regretfully Yours 4 Super Furry Animals - Fuzzy Logic 5 Geneva - Further V close: FoW, Whale, Amps, Cibo Matto, Poole, Imperial Teen, Unbelievable Truth, etc
Impossible, this only came out a couple of years ago; time is weird. Still have the promo shop bag I got when I ordered it from the almighty Action Records; have the pins and a shirt from the tour around somewhere as well. Still holds up as one of their best. 🖤
#5DebutAlbums9599 Gene - Olympian Majestic is the only word for this one and it has only gotten better with time. Sadly no room in my 5 for it but I imagine it has enough fans to make it through. (One day, I will have a “Sleep Well Tonight” pillowcase.)
Have you covered ‘The Fountain’ by Casey Scieszka? I was enthralled with it earlier this year and it loans itself to having a signature cocktail quite well in my opinion.
#5DebutAlbums9599 Unbelievable Truth - Almost Here A gentle storm of an album, it was a favorite when it came out and has held up incredibly well during the 28 years since. Recently received a long overdue LP expansion and repressing, patiently awaiting for my copies to arrive from the UK.
#5DebutAlbums9599 Jeremy Enigk - Return of the Frog Queen One I forgot about on my initial list, Sunny Day Real Estate frontman’s debut is a lush orchestral-pop mini-masterpiece.
#5DebutAlbums9599 Longpigs - The Sun Is Often Out Underappreciated album from the second wave of Britpop, it’s held up exceptionally well.
#5DebutAlbums9599 Fulflej - Fulflej (Wack-Ass Tuba Riff) More left-of-center indie for this bracket, the time from James Iha’s vanity label Scratchie. You can definitely hear a Pumpkins influence here; a very of-the-time album.
#5DebutAlbums9599 Fake Brain - So Glad You Came I saw these guys open for The Frogs a few times in the late 90’s/early 00’s and they were a lot of fun; quirky indie-rock that scratches a specific itch when the mood is right. Their third album ‘Push’ is my fav of theirs but this is solid.
#5DebutAlbums9599 Poole - Alaska Days Fantastic power pop on SpinArt. This was a huge record amongst my friend group in high school and is still a blast to pull out every once in a while. 💙
