Watching a thunderstorm in the distance while standing on a field perhaps isn't the brightest idea. But it was fascinating to watch for a few minutes. I'm on my way back home now. On the bright side, my back is doing better after that walk, and I had a good time. I'm happy. 🦊☔️⛈

Time for another forest walk 🦊🐾 Mushroom season is starting 🍄‍🟫

Super lo-fi reel to reel tape recorder :3 I got two of them from my grandfather. One plays too slow, the other is fine. I have a microphone too. It'd be fun to intentionally make a low quality recording with it.

I was reminded of another thing. 🦊 Moomins. A series of novels and picture books by Finland Swedish writer and illustrator Tove Jansson. It got 3 anime adaptions in Japan. The first from 1969 was bizarre and violent and disliked by Jansson. The 3rd from 1990 was well liked and became very popular.

I was talking with a friend about obscure childhood cartoons and this came to mind. 🐱 11 Piki no Neko / 11 Hungry Cats and an Albatross / 11 Hungrige Katzen und ein Albatros It's based on a Japanese picture book series. I had it on VHS as a little kid. My aunt worked in a video rental store.

The rubber knobs on my Arturia MicroBrute became sticky. The rubber coating breaks down over time and turns into glue, apparently this is a common issue with synthesisers. I just gave the knobs a good scrub with 99.9% Isopropyl Cleaner Alcohol. Worked like a charm. No more sticky, fox is happy. 🦊

Just read an article on Eurogamer about Robert Yang, an indie developer who makes gay themed experimental games. I'm upset to find that none of his games are available on Steam if you're in Germany. It just shows a message "This product in currently not available in your country". That's bullshit.

More vintage Kraftwerk vinyl. Kohoutek - Kometenmelodie released in 1973 to celebrate a comet passing Earth. It was before the band became popular with Autobahn, nobody bought it. It's so smol. I never owned a 7" record before. :3 Look at those two nerds on the cover. This is cool, I like it. 🦊🎵

Sunny evening forest walk 🦊💚 It's quiet now. I'm relaxed and happy. The day started rough with all the airplane noise stressing me out. But now things are nice again.

It'd be a beautiful day if we didn't have US fighter jets practice divebombing over our village. Almost daily military planes start from Ramstein Air Base and terrorise West Germany. They fly over Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. I wish the Americans would leave us alone. 🦊

I deserve a big pizza today :3

Treated myself a bit over the hot days. 🦊🐾 I bought a NES console, a SummerCart64, a turntable, a drawing tablet, and a bunch of vintage Kraftwerk vinyls. Now I'll take a fat break from spending. I don't often buy things. But sometimes it's okay. It's all hobby stuff I'll cherish for a long time.

My first ever attempt at taking a panorama picture with my phone. It'd be amazing to try this on a sunset. Maybe next time I come here. 🦊

Resting spot on a hike through the countryside in West Germany on a summer day early in July 2026. I really like this spot and come here often to relax and listen to music and watch the sunset. Not many people make the effort of walking all the way up here from the nearby village.

Bunch of flies on a black locust (false acacia) twig. I just found it interesting that they all settled on that one twig. Black locust is an invasive species in Europe and a pretty nasty plant all around. It's poisonous, thorny and almost impossible to get rid of.

I found a mysterious blue Stop 'n' Swop egg. Unfortunately it was broken already, so I'll never know what secrets it contained. :P

A large tomato mozzarella pizza I ordered after a 5 hour walk. It felt deserved after that. x3

Gall formed by a fly, the beech gall midge (mikiola fagi), on a beech tree leaf.

This large beech tree broke during the recent thunderstorm when the heat wave ended. The wood was already damaged by insects and fungi. It hit and partially destroyed a resting bench which was built there a few months ago.

Here's a marbled white butterfly (melanargia galathea) on a thistle flower 🦋 Known as Schachbrett Schmetterling (chess board / chequerboard) in German.

Here's a slow worm. One of the most common lizards in my region. 🐍 It's not a snake, it's a legless lizard. They're harmless. If you look closely you can see it blink. Snakes don't have eyelids, so they can't blink. I'm always mesmerised by their tongue. They use it to smell the environment.

A little shrew / Spitzmaus in the forest. 🐭 It's not a mouse or a rodent, they only look similar. The German words Spitzmaus (shrew), Fledermaus (bat), Haselmaus (Hazel dormouse) are all misleading. Shrews have a long pointy snout, they eat insects and they're related to moles.
