Just throwing this out there, before International Observe the Moon night in September. You know how the full #Moon is so very bright? My cards have a tiny hole in the middle to cut out the glare and allow you to see surface features in greater clarity. Visit shopwavytail.com for yours. #astronomy
Leftfield’s “Leftism” was the soundtrack to my university years and way beyond. Love that album.
This Texas Gulf Coast Toad would like to say hello to his cousin. He also remained unmolested by cats (as far as I know).
I took a five week art class on #botanicaldrawing and made this pencil drawing of an orchid. I think I might do more of this. #botanicalillustration
A tiny green Katydid about half an inch long, inside a purple Iris flower. It’s so small and cute!
Gorgeous! That’s a very pretty color. Ours down here in Texas have just finished blooming.
These cornhole boards were made by my husband and painted by me. And then it took me ages to figure out how to lacquer them and actually do it, but today the legs were fitted back on so now they’re Done! And we will have the best most colorful games of cornhole in existence.
The Moon, Jupiter and Venus all in a line this morning. I overexposed the crap out of the moon (grabbed this shot mid-workout so didn’t have a ton of time to play) but the terminator looks cool today. Look at all those craters!
Jupiter and Venus (brighter one) were looking fantastic this morning. They were so close together - less than a Moon diameter, they both fit in the view of my #Hestia. You can see the moons of Jupiter as that diagonal line of dots running through it. #planets #astrophotography
Happy Sturgeon Moon! Remember to reset your lunar clocks today. Here’s a couple of photos; the Full Moon just before it set this morning, and if you look to the east you can see Venus and Jupiter close together and bright.
I’ve got a new wall mount version of my Moon Phase Clocks! Keep in touch with the lunar cycle. Watch the Apollo capsule orbit each phase in turn. #fullmoon #lunarcalendar Find it at wavytail.etsy.com
Printed a safe haven hook for my glasses, since the cat decided he wants to sleep on my nightstand and push everything off to make room… #3dprinting
A modern reincarnation of the most desirable 16th Century timepiece - the portable Diptych Sundial! Compact and lightweight, ready for adventures anywhere from South Florida to Canada. Available now at wavytail.etsy.com
It always somehow surprises me when our Crape Myrtle blooms. (And it always annoys me that’s it’s apparently not spelled “crèpe”)
Clucking bell, my feed is all politics and there needs to be some lightness in the world too. Have some flowers.
These two cats are dropping the most unsubtle hints that it might, in fact, be dinnertime.
Happy Winter Solstice to all our Northern hemisphere people! And happy Summer Solstice to our Southern friends :-)
A few months ago, I was approached by the good people at @nelsonatkins art museum in Kansas City MO, asking if I could provide astrolabes for a forthcoming exhibition. I was delighted to work with them. The exhibition opened this week, and they just sent me these photos of the installation :-)
