This is my first finished peek at an illustration for my book! Rin might not be supposed to leave the room, but she isn't in the habit of listening to stupid rules.

Surprise! It's him! Again! (This is not a surprise.)

This is how the little menace wakes us up every day. And sometimes night. And sometimes at 2am. Not pictured here are his violent and ferocious paw slaps delivered at the speed of sound.

My pet cat Constable squeezing his head and paws between the slats of our bed's headboard to grip the pillows with his claws. He is a tuxedo cat with little white mitts and a white mustache and this is how he chooses to spend his time.

A few nights ago I had a very vivid dream that was an animated story about Rin and Don Vallus completely separate from their actual story. They style was very sharp and vector like and I wanted to try to capture it after waking up! It was lineless in the dream but I... am bad at that 😅

Had the opportunity last month to make some more environmental art than usual, but I'm pretty happy with the results! The first is a recreation from a grainy and sun faded photo of the client's father's farm. The beach and sailboat was for a poetry book cover!

A top down scene of a farm, split by lines of lush summer trees and a dirt wagon trail. The farm includes five buildings: A large red barn with a yellowed brick silo adjacent, three small wood sheds, overgrown with ivy rhat leeches even further onto a small open cover garage, and lastly a spacious white farmhouse with a gray roof. To the north are soybean fields and man rows of tilled earth ready for planting, as well as a winding tractor trail from years past. The blue and purple ahadows of slow clouds dapple the yard of the foreground in the late summer light.

A single white sailboat clips toward the setting sun across a pleasantly wavy blue lake, following the reflections of colors along its wake. A few white silhouettes of sea gulls flock the pastel yellow and orange sky, making for the tree capped dunes at the far horizon. The foreground is taken up by a sandy shore and a trail of green and yellow spriggy dune grass that waves in the breeze.

An all time favorite! The gorge is so majestic I could have sat there all day.

Mingus the possum exploring one of the lower tiers of Douglas-Houghton falls. From this angle you can see how high the cliffs stretch making this a rocky and precarious climb only for the extremely sure footed during very dry seasons (and even then think twice!)

Mingus the possum at the creek downstream of Douglas-Houghton falls. The three tiered fall breaks into small rivulets in the drier seasons exposing mossy ledges and beautiful red clay cliffs. Near the base of the falls is a small cave, likely an exploratory drill looking for copper or silver. I can personally attest it is now inhahbited by one billion spiders.

He's... he is not getting the faucet just yet...

All four of these images are photos of my tuxedo cat Constable sitting in the bowl of our bathroom sink getting absolutely drenched as he drinks from the faucet. It is not dissuading him. He could absolutely drink from any other angle than directly in the sink where he will get soaking wet. He could leave the sink at any time. The real loser is us when a soaking wet cat immediately after wants to cuddle in bed. We hope he will learn one day, but it is not today or probably tomorrow.

And another small little fanart for my #OuterWilds fans out there, this one for the dlc so heres a quick #EchoesoftheEyeSpoilers tag too just incase! But... what would the #Owlks look like as babies. Little gremlin of fluff. Not pictured, the enormous potoo neck mouth. (Listen, I love them ok.)

My personal take on what the Owlks from Outer Wilds DLC: Echoes of the Eye would look like as chicks. A fluffy lump of brown downy fur with pale green raptor like arms and stubby fingers seated back with digitigrade hooved haunches sticking awkwardly to either side. Its eyes are shut and slightly bulging like that of a newborn bird and their antlers are small and slightly ceooked. Behind them a blurry background of green nebula and stars and among them the traces of a hazy green ringed planet that they will never truly remember.

A delightful pose I had to steal for my two most romantic and zooted characters- Paladin Knox and Princess Helena are every fairy tale trope you've ever heard and then some.
