In Goemon 4, Junkie plummets from an outerspace platform and through the atmosphere directly towards you. To win you must grab the sword at just the right time and break it with your hands. It's sick. This boss completely mystified me as a kid. The instructions being Japanese probably didn't help.

It don't get the feeling it is common knowledge to a lot of fans that Yoshitaka Amano did character design and concept art for a bunch of the classic Tatsunoko shows. They had a really stacked talent pool in the 70s of artists that went on to do other big things.
