I don't know if I've ever played a game that wants you to break it more than Star Ocean 2 does. I got this stat-doubling sword from fishing. I'm not even doing the crafting. The game has an item-duplication skill that you can just have. There's in-game XP multiplier abilities.

one of my favorite walkthrough experiences of all time is the baten kaitos 100% completion guide where it starts off as this super detailed, caring experience and then like halfway through the author just starts saying "fuck off go read another guide if you advice for the dungeon"
