It was so peaceful by the lake yesterday. It’s pretty special when you get to enjoy the beauty of nature with no one else around. #landscape #nature #photography #reflection
Went out to the garden for some nighttime photography last night. This lily was just begging to have its picture taken with some white light. #photography #night #bloomscrolling #gardening
I had to pull up 2 of my less mature swamp milkweed plants. They developed milkweed yellows because of a leaf hopper infestation. I found a great deal on 2 much larger “ice ballet” Asclepias incarnata at the local nursery. One day after planting them this monarch showed up! 🌱 #bugsky #nativeplants
I’ve heard that you shouldn’t post multiple photos at once because it doesn’t perform well, but the way I see it, I’m just sharing some pictures with friends… Not playing a cello solo at Carnegie Hall. 😉 I hope everyone is having a nice night out there. #photography #nature #bloomscrolling #bugsky
A few more photos ✌️💚🍵 #bloomscrolling #photography #gardening #nature #bugsky
First poppy of the year. I direct sowed these in November rather than February this time around. My success rate wasn’t nearly as good. It makes sense. More time for them to migrate beneath the soil or be eaten by birds. They only need a month of cold weather. #bloomscrolling #gardening
The great spangled fritillary butterflies are plentiful in our area right now. #nature #bugsky #butterfly
I started this strawberry foxglove from seed last year. They’re a short lived perennial unlike purple 🦊🧤’s which are biennial. They produce way less seeds than purple foxgloves, so they don’t spread at the same rate. I love how fuzzy they are. It’s hard not to pet them. 😆 #gardening #bloomscrolling
Let’s reconvene for the nightly routine by the serene, green, scene. #landscape #nature #photography
The pickerel frog is usually smaller than the bullfrogs & green frogs around here, but they’re the most calm of all the local lithobates because they’re armed w/ toxins that most predators want nothing to do with. Apparently some garter snakes have developed an immunity though. #nature #herpetology
Happy Friday! This morning the chipmunks found a bunch of back up seedlings I had on the deck to replace everything they previously destroyed in the garden. I lost a bunch of bean plants, zucchini & various sunflowers. 😕 I arranged a nice bouquet though! #bloomscrolling #whatsinyourvase #gardening
🌸 🐝 Happy Thursday friends #nature #bloomscrolling #pollinatorpals #bugsky #nativeplants
Made another purchase from the local nursery last weekend! I have an entire area that I eventually want to let this Blunt Mountain Mint plant take over. It’s perfect for my area. The deer & most bugs won’t touch the foliage, but pollinators are obsessed with the blooms. #nativeplants #gardening
I hope you are a having a nice day out there. My feverfew plants are flowering! Not only are they beautiful and perfect bouquet fillers, they can also be used to prevent migraines and ease joint discomfort. #gardening #bloomscrolling #photography #herbalism ✌️💚🍵
I took this photo on Friday. It was a quiet, peaceful day on the Delaware. Today the river was lively. It was filled with people tubing, canoeing and kayaking. #nature #photography #newyork
I think this photo looks like one of those fancy, dark, Dutch paintings at the Met. #night #photography #nature #skyscape
1) I am trying to convince my wife to let me replace the foxgloves on our property with natives. She loves them. I do too. I’ve actually defended them on here many times, but I’m trying to evolve & be a better environmentalist. We didn’t plant them. They’ve been here long before we bought the place.
Happy Friday! I hope you are having a nice day out there. ✌️💚🍵 #bloomscrolling #gardening #whatsinyourvase
It’s officially mountain laurel season in the Catskills! #nativeplants #newyork #nature #bloomscrolling
Some of you might remember I direct sowed some #nativeplants last fall. Well, that was a fail. 😆 I identified every weed known to man in there, but not my plants. Anyways, I weeded & tilled the area up & planted some swamp milkweed there. It stays really moist b/c it’s right next to a tiny stream. 🌱
Finally got around to fencing off the pumpkin/butternut patch I’ve been talking about for years. I have 5 Long Island Cheese pumpkins & 3 butternut squash plants, each in 20 gallon pots. I’m going to train them across the grass. My heart would rather grow flowers but my wallet needed more produce. 🌱
First Spicebush Swallowtail visitor of the year! Officially marked in the yearly mental Pokédex. ✅ #nature #gardening #bugsky
Yesterday I was excited because I noticed some of my sunflowers started popping up. Today I went out to the garden to see that the chipmunks ate a bunch of them, so I had to replant them in pots inside. I can’t even get mad at them. They are just too damn cute haha. #nature #gardening
We added to calla lillies to the garden because of course I needed more tropical plants that I have to dig up every year and store inside. 😂 Totally worth it though! The hummingbirds are obsessed. #bloomscrolling #gardening
This yearling doe is enjoying an afternoon rest under the spruce tree. Mom has been chasing her away because she has a new baby that I haven’t seen yet. She will get to rejoin the family in a couple months or so, but she’s a little confused now. It’s ok you can hangout with me, little one. 🫂 #nature
