Hey friends. I hope your Tuesday’s being kind to you, and I wish you peace, inspiration, good books, strong tea, and plentiful tacos.
Proof of life. It’s been a busy week, but I’m locking in to get some writing done this afternoon #sundayselfie #writer
Clearing out some old promo files from my computer and found this screen shot from 2019. High praise indeed!
Doing my bit to fight the literacy crisis by writing addictive, thriller-paced science fiction with relatable human characters caught up in wild, high stakes adventures #books
I just read there's a feature film under development starring an AI-generated actor and I think it's time we called the blade runners
Happy Friday, friends. After a hectic couple of weeks, I finally have a day to myself, and I'm spending it working on my mystery novel-in-progress. Whatever you're doing, have a great day!
This is what 25 years of work looks like. Many more in the pipeline! #booksky
Progress update: I just passed 30k words on the first draft of the mystery novel I'm #writing
Wherever you go this #summer, take JITTERBUG with you. And if you end up reading it in a far-flung or bizarre location, tag me in the picture! Out now from @titanbooks and all good booksellers #books #summerreads
New haircut for the hot weather. Happy Friday, pals!
My current pile of reference books (and one I wrote myself).
“Parachute? I thought you said, ‘Wear a parrot shirt.’” - Me in the air force probably
My novel JITTERBUG is published today in Australia!
With the popularity of shows like #widowsbay and #theboroughs and the surge in #horror at the cinema, someone really should adapt my supernatural murder mystery RAGGED ALICE (@tordotcompub.bsky.social), which is set in a small Welsh seaside town, with a lighthouse that calls home souls lost at sea.
Re-reading this incredible book, highlighting passages and marking pages. “Good writing is clear. Talented writing is energetic. Good writing avoids errors. Talented writing makes things happen in the reader’s mind—vividly, forcefully—that good writing, which stops with clarity and logic, doesn’t.”
When a grieving bounty hunter meets a deposed pirate queen, the entire universe changes. “An exciting and solidly written character-driven science fiction story with an interesting setting.” – SFFWORLD Jitterbug by Gareth L. Powell. Published by @titanbooks.bsky.social and available everywhere.
Two absolute classics, Blade Runner and The Thing were both released on the same day in US cinemas: 25 June 1982. And both are definitely in my list of all-time favourites.
I've been thinking about this movie today #heatwave
I have two horror novels coming out from @titanbooks.bsky.social under the pen name G.L. Powell. UNLEASHED in August 2027 and AFLOAT in March 2028.
Getting ready to venture out into what may be the hottest day ever recorded in the UK. I’m doing the afternoon shift in the bookshop, which does not have air con. I don’t expect we’ll have many customers. In the meantime, I’m grateful my east-facing bedroom has thick stone walls and wooden shutters.
After a bit of a slump at the end of last year, the past few months have been a creative reawakening. I'm reading more, writing some of the best work of my life, and loving every minute of it. #writersky
When the weather is hot, it’s a good idea to hide inside where it’s cool and read a book. And if you’re looking for fast, gripping reads with great characters and mind blowing ideas, these could be the books for you! Published by @titanbooks.bsky.social and available from all good book sellers
“That’s all anybody can do right now. Live. Hold out. Survive. I don’t know whether good times are coming back again. But I know that won’t matter if we don’t survive these times.” - OCTAVIA BUTLER, born on this day in 1947 in Pasadena, California
The scariest monsters in my novels (so far) are the stained-glass, pan-dimensional Cutters from FUTURE'S EDGE and the nameless sentient contagion from STARS AND BONES. Both published by @titanbooks.bsky.social and available everywhere
I’m working an all-day shift behind the till at the bookshop today, and a guy just came in and bought a copy of my novel FUTURE’S EDGE off the shelf. I was too awkward and British to tell him I was the author…
This afternoon at the supermarket, I bought a sketchbook on impulse, and so have been doodling this evening while on a Zoom call with friends.
Thrilled to receive a physical copy of this anthology I co-edited with @jendiagammon.bsky.social and @scarlettralgee.bsky.social for @starsandsabers.bsky.social. It's PACKED with 37 spine-tingling #horror stories from some of the greatest authors around. Available now from all good booksellers.
