I believe @skipischris.bsky.social qualifies! Could he have just signed as the Oilers EBUG? The Oilers have two goalies with a history of injuries so this could be his chance. Also, if the EBUG comes in, does that count as an NHL game so the team has to find a new one before the next game?
Quiz time! Which vehicle is parked legally? Bonus: who do you think was parked there first? If it was the car driver, do you think the truck driver still thought parking in the bike lane was less illegal? @michaeljanz.bsky.social @edmontonanne.bsky.social @andrewknack.bsky.social
We’re now up to 43 days since the street was resurfaced and no traffic markings have been painted. Is that because all the markings are for people walking and biking? There was no yellow line just for SUVs before that needed immediate replacing.
Is it bad timing to pick up Frostbike in July? Not in YEG where the anti-bike crowd assures me there’s 13 months of winter.
Tell me you hate bikes and don’t know the joy of riding them without telling me you hate bikes and don’t know the joy of riding them. (The image is a response to my previous post about using one bike to transport a second bike)
Fortunate that I own more than one bike. When one needs servicing, I can take it to the shop with another bike. That how I continue to fight @thewaroncars.bsky.social
As a person with a disability so I cannot drive but I can bike with my children and huge loads of groceries, I find that the Rev isn’t making a good argument for why everyone has to drive everywhere.
Well, @andrewknack.bsky.social might have missed my offer for ice cream but @ashleysalvador.bsky.social was happy to join a group of people who ride bikes for some ice cream.
No one else thought my labelling of this evening’s dinner was a bad attempt at a math joke. It was my daughter who told me which buns were pastrami and not pastrami
Someone moved one of the Toronto barriers in my favourite modal filter to make the gap for drivers even wider. Wouldn’t want to hurt drivers’ feelings by preventing them from driving everywhere
Baking cookies this morning nearly went horribly wrong. I’m well aware nutmeg isn’t white but I put a lot of trust in the label.
New Bike Day! I needed another bike to carry one of my other bikes. Actually, it’s mostly for 老婆 or my daughters to carry me in the future or ride further with me for groceries in the present. @ternbicycles.com
Captured some enemy territory in @thewaroncars.bsky.social with this sweet parallel parking right in front of the ice cream shop. The ice cream was sweet too.
Two rides down 105Ave, driver parked in the bike lane each ride RIGHT BESIDE WHERE THEY COULD LEGALLY PARK ON THE SIDEWALK. Whoda thunk drivers would be confused by the only legal sidewalk parking in the city?
Any advice from Bluesky about what to read next? Options are Jane Jacobs, Lewis Mumford, beginner Marxist Geography, Dark PR, something recent about bikes or urbanism, or catch up on academic papers about cargo bikes. My recent reads are in the photo.
I posted this earlier today. I think the City paused for the weekend but leaving the snow in the painted door zone bike lane was a choice
Fighting #Blindness Canada is trying to connect people with similar eye diseases IRL. One in #yeg is at an #inaccessible rec centre. The closest bus stop is 2.5km away. If you go, you must be driven there. #motonormativity #disability #VisuallyImpaired
Collected air quality data today on a residential street that’s packed with SUVs due to the Xmas light display. It was -24°C so a fine night for a walk. @thewaroncars.bsky.social
Amateurs. Edmonton police block the bike lane when there’s an actual, available parking spot right beside where they parked. Yes, Edmonton has bike lane-protected sidewalk parking. Just installed last year.
Too bad there isn’t a junction so TWO paths could be obstructed at once. 111Ave has six more poles in the path though it’s possible they will be moved
Guy covered his licence plate with a cloth grocery bag when I moved to take a picture of the back of the car. Guess he actually knew driving the wrong way down a big lane then parking isn’t allowed
My city could hire me part-time as a parking bylaw officer and I’d make it millions during my usual riding around
Encountered five illegally parked vehicles along about 500m of bike lane. If only there was someone nearby to enforce the laws.
Yes, the City did completely tear up the side of a road, build completely new active transportation infrastructure, and still decide to place a pole in the middle of two shared use paths.
My pre-ordered copy of Life After Cars arrived at my local bookstore. The framings I use in my urbanist/biking YT videos will likely evolve after reading. Thanks for writing this, @thewaroncars.bsky.social
