Looks like a proper tectonic quake (now M5.1) in the Texas panhandle. Deep disposal well activity is a possible trigger but that's TBD. (earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/...)
My bus tour of Wrangell, Alaska, last month began as our guide passed around this specimen of almandine garnet. There's a former mine north of town where collecting and marketing the garnets is restricted to the town's children. Most of the garnets are small, but not all of them.
