Kelly Hayes—who is very much an expert—has clearly said that sitting is dangerous. This has been circulating among other experts:

It’s harder to get up quickly, especially for those w/mobility issues; tear gas sinks: staying mobile helps peace marshals de-escalate. Consider alternatives: Stand silently; link arms; walk slowly; document w/camera.”
