Only issue is it does randomly miss some of the sessions, it seems like! But as long as folks know that there are presentations in there, they can always fill in the gaps via Confex. I'm sorry all this is so convoluted!

The AMS Conference on Weather Analysis and Forecasting (WAF) and Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) is excited to host the Research Operations Nexus (RON) at the AMS Madison Summit! The RON bridges meteorological research and operational forecasting. It is a great opportunity to connect with peers!

Even the 100-member cluster analysis on a superensemble of GEFS+CMCE+ECMWF systems shows remarkable consistency in the heat dome itself. Differences from the full ensemble avg are confined to shortwave disturbances moving over the ridge (1st), and all are anomalously strong compared to CFSR (2nd).

Hi everyone! We recently decided to re-open the AMS WAF/NWP Student Travel Award applications to award the remaining two grants we have left for supporting travel to the 2026 AMS Joint Summit (with increased award amounts). Please share far and wide, and get application materials to us by July 6!

Hi everyone! With the abstract submission deadlines for the 2026 AMS Madison Joint Summit coming up, wanted to advertise these student award and travel opportunities available via the AMS WAF/NWP conferences. Feel free to spread the word to any interested students!

Weather Analysis and Forecasting / Numerical Weather Prediction Conference Student Travel Grant Awards

Student presentations selected as part of the 34WAF/30NWP conferences have the option of being judged, with a $50 award going to the top 3 oral and poster presentations in each conference (12 awards total).

Also, once abstracts have been submitted, the WAF/NWP committee will offer three $375 travel grants to students whose abstracts have been accepted.

Students who wish to be considered for a travel grant must send the following documents to the program chairs (austin.coleman@noaa.gov, john.lind@noaa.gov, jbravo2@stevens.edu, and tomer@windbornesystems.com) no later than Friday, April 3rd, 2026:
Statement of why they wish to attend the WAF/NWP conferences
- Statement of commitment to attend if they receive the travel grant
- Letter of support from their advisor
- Ensure that you have submitted an abstract to the WAF or NWP conferences before the abstract submission deadline

Fair point! Even the CMCE "dry" solution still carries a lot of impacts. I just think the uncertainty is fascinating. The next 24 hours still have the Canadian with the least QPF, but even that solution is very impactful for western CO!

Lots of uncertainty amongst the NBM QMD membership too! The Canadian ensemble is all in on a drier scenario (100% of CMCE in Cluster 1) whereas the rest of the global ensemble solutions have a much larger QPF footprint. Really interesting to see such large differences at this short a lead time!
