I just started reading this, dealing the life of Gerda Taro, and I am already hooked.

Picked this up just because it looked like fun. So far, it is. Sample: "Often the cause of death is either 'got too greedy' or 'Napoleon turned up'." I'm also within pages of finishing Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata, which is both moving and delightful.

Discovered this in my favourite local independent bookstore and it is very, very good: Roddy Doyle meets Mary Renault meets Euripides.

The most Canadian thing I own: it was a toss-up between this, a Leonard Cohen songbook (from his first album) and an Ian and Sylvia vinyl album.

That's an interesting juxtaposition of images.
