Ok this is weird. Why is the only full sized phone booth I’ve seen in Toronto in years outside Drake’s house? Seen on my ride last night.

This gorgeous heron was waiting for me at L’Amoreaux pond on this morning’s bike ride. I’ve seen them here before but never got a clear shot. Sadly I missed the chance to catch him 10 feet ahead of me on the railing of the footbridge.

My first was a Schwinn Pixie in 1975 - rode it until the solid tires had holes in them! Upgraded to a Vista Clodhopper BMX bike that I rode on our dirt road, logging roads and even to school (No lock required!) Had a road bike briefly in my early teens then taken in by cars for 20 years.
No permission required if someone isn't doing it for money (but I'm not really interested in the project - just in seeing someone else doing it - or even just hearing their stations and stories here)

A little better but still lots of empty ones and only one with more than one. Lately there's been lots of talk about "Demand Destruction" and this is a great example of it.
I did get a nice descent on the return trip also. (Military Trail Rd in Scarborough)
A couple of trafficy spots to get here but mostly it was like this. Delightful ride out to Beare Hill Park at the eastern edge of Toronto. Once it was a landfill now it looks like this.
My age is showing. This is the first car I owned. Mind you, back in 1986 it was not nearly as in nice shape as the photo I found. It was before these were in pop culture, so my dad paid $400 for it. Lap belts, metal dash, no collapsable steering wheel and a 16yo driver means I'm lucky to be alive.
I forgot about that imprint. I *loved* it as a kid. You knew just from the cover that it would be good. If you'd asked me before seeing that I'd have thought that the first imprint I judged this way was "Vintage Contemporaries" in the mid 80s. I'd buy books by authors I never heard of from them.

Making good time. Almost 3/4 done. This just came on my watch though. Every time I pass through Stouffville in the afternoon there is a severe thunderstorm potential or actual. Last time I ended up sheltering at a school. Before that @daeganl.bsky.social and I sipped coffee at a gas station.
Stopped at Port Perry. 70 km or half way in. Lunch time. Last week I didn’t have enough salt and ended up with hyponatremia. Not going to happen today, friends.
