A calm and cool, if a bit overcast morning at Montrose basin. Tide receding and a few little waders dotted about working along the edges. Curlew and redshank calling from the far banks. Two terns passing overhead...
A grey but calm morning at Montrose basin. Ducks snoozing towards the bridge at the mouth, and two or three terns calling overhead. Not as warm today, but comfortable.
Slightly overcast morning at Montrose basin. Still calm enough to keep the ducks in bed... Mild and a little more humid than of late.
After a long enough run up, involving much prevarication, I've finally made the first tangible step in building an O gauge modern image shunting layout, in a vain & some would say futile attempt to convince myself, and anyone else, that I can actually do something positive with my spare time. ->
A lovely calm reflective high tide at Montrose basin. Surprised to find a few rafts of ducks snoozing on the water, enjoying a Monday morning lie in, lucky things...
A milder, hazy high tide at Montrose basin this morning. Solitary herring gull on the water. Waders away someplace else round the shores...
A murky morning at Montrose basin. Changing tide's pushed all the wee waders to the middle of the mud...
A grey, cool, calm & slightly hazy morning. A few waders and ducks about.
A grey overcast but calm morning at Montrose basin. Low tide so waders are foraging and gulls washing...
A cooler air at low tide this morning at Montrose basin. Lots of gulls making the most of the time to have a wash and preen. Lots of lttle waders in the distance, too far to identify. Slightly salty smell in the air.
A slightly different angle this morning because the cloud demanded attention. A lovely low tide calm Montrose basin. Occasional curlew call in the far away mud banks. Going to be very warm I think.
Another glorious morning at Montrose basin. Light breeze, actually a very nice welcome breeze, because it feels like it's going to get warm..
A much nicer, very pleasant morning at Montrose basin. Just the lightest breezy and a very clear view way over to the Angus glens. All quiet at high tide apart from the occasional swallow chartering away above...
Not quite as windy as yesterday. High tide on an overcast morning at Montrose basin. All quiet, apart from the trains I'm the station behind.
A very blustery if dry morning at Montrose basin. Very high tide to match as well. No waders. Just the odd gull surfing the wind over the waves. Not the nicest way to start the week.
A calm light breeze on a high tide at Montrose basin. A lovely morning. Not a lot about, two herring gulls and a common merganser or is it a goosander, I think.
A very blustery changeable morning at Montrose basin. Rising tide annoying the oyster catchers on the mud. I'd have taken a video but all you'd probably hear would be the wind.
Evening doggie walk last night to the duckpond gave us a big surprise. Hundreds of tiny little frogllets hoping all over the path that circles the pond😃 We had to be careful not to stand on any.
What a contrast a day makes. Sunny and warm at Montrose basin early on. Two curlews foraging on the edge of the creek and a Shelduck meandering up the channel on the rising tide.
A damp, or more like driech morning at Montrose basin. Distant call of a curlew heard over the noise of the train behind me.
Tucked up in a hollow on the side of the path. The nest dropout herring gull chick, behind the council offices. Snoozing but watching me. Someone has put water out for it S PS so pleased to see you back 🙂 #firstbirdofmyday
A bright and breezy morning at Montrose basin. Looks like the tide's been far out but starting to come back in. Salty smell. A lone crow on the fence surveys the scene.
A rare Saturday morning Montrose basin view. Sunny, warm and calm. Not a lot happening at low tide... Just a few gulls walking the ever changing tide line.... London sleeper running over an hour late though...
Early morning sun at Montrose basin. Koe tide but some interesting waders nearby. Lots of gulls but three little egrets and a curlew
A calm warm and somewhat hazy morning at Montrose basin. Hints of Harr round the edges, all quiet on the mud, just faint sounds of wren and willow warbler away in the scrub on the north east corner.
An absolutely fabulous early morning at Montrose basin. Already very warm in the 7am sunshine. Flat calm low tide apart from the occasional wake behind an gull passing by. Keep cool and safe indoors tonight everyone. It's going to be very very warm.
