Rosé: Guerilleros by Gilles Troullier 2023 Syrah, Lledoner, Pelut Muscat Most of Gilles’ vineyards were destroyed by the recent wildfires that started in Trevillach.
Trying some more Aragonese wines the coming months. This Campo de Borja (100%Garnatxa) has lots a fruit in the nose, but the use of oak is just over my threshold. The name Juan Gil should have been a warning as they’re pretty keen on oak. All in all nicely drinkable, less oak would have been better
Most pet nats I try are yeasty faulty shite, but this blanc de noirs is really nice.
My first Georgian wine. Some reductive notes in the nose but not unpleasant. For the rest, think Chenin but light bodied. Not sure if this is worth 15€.
White wine from macabeo and Grenache noir. Natural wine but no faults. Very nice.
Le Roc Des Anges - Les Vignes Métissées White, slightly pink field blend of white and blue grapes. Spectacular as ever, too bad the domain has been sold and of they will continue making this wine.
Also ran, this blanc de noir Trepat from Barbera de la Conca, fermented in barrique. Very nice!
Eau de souche, pn vinifiied In the PO by the son of Gauby: disappointment. The Toxic Ganay’nger: great fruity Gamay Le Berceau des Fees Chenin: always great
78: Macabeu from the Pyrenees Orientales (66) and Chenin from the Aveyron (12).
Red natural wine from the Jura that went fine with the swordfish Sicilian style and the pasta allio olio peperoncino due to it’s acidity and lack of tannins.
Sort of an orange wine from Pantelleria. Apperently a holy grail for the natural wine crowd, but IMHO for 120€ street price one could buy nicer wine. Nose of stone fruit and nail polish (volatile acidity). Not unpleasant.
