Slightly foxed. Lancastrian. Obscurist. Goonatic. Beatle nut. Christian. Quondam and eventual jazz pianist, I hope. Massively over-sensitive. Kiboshed by ME. Hobbies: leaning against the sideboard gasping for breath.
This was the nearest the restraining order let me be, back in 2019 at The Goodies’ Audible recording.
Simon has decided that Sibelius’ Second Symphony isn’t as cat-friendly as last night’s RVW On Wenlock Edge, and refuses to sit on my knee. I knew it was a one-off.
Simon the Bengal has decided, unusually, that I’m no threat if I’m sat outside listening to Vaughan Williams. I think he likes it.
RIP Bill Oddie - major part of my formative years. Here he is back in 2019, at the last ever recording made by The Goodies, telling Dirk Maggs how to do everything. That was the most joyous night I’ve spent in a theatre for many a year.
Gutted to hear that my old boss - Rubette, Arthur Daley imitator, incredible jazz guitarist and superb wit - has left the building. Rest easy, guv’nor. 💔
Looks like our fun little Monday evening thing has gorn, darn it. Not in the slightest pleased about this.
Four years ago I started a little project. I got sick around that time. Tonight, I got my soldering iron out and am too knackered to start the job…sod sod sodding sod.
Joe's already had enough of Robin, the humourless old sod. #FaceTheMusic
Decided to completely detach myself from…(waves arms about) all this, and listen to this LP, which I picked up in a chazza for £2. Recording from 1962, pressing from 1971, hifi gear from 1984. Ahhhh…
The most ghastly news to wake up to - RIP Glen Baxter, one of my all-time heroes.
Watching Sounds Of The Sixties on first broadcast. Tom Jones doing Chills And Fever and, towards the end, he writhes and grimaces to camera. My Dad’s bushy eyebrows nearly hit his chin and, in a broad Wigan accent, he proclaimed ‘Eee. ‘E’s DEGENERATE’. Can’t ever watch this again without laughing…
I managed to accidentally break my then-new girlfriend (now aforementioned wife)’s Ferguson Videostar shortly after we met. I wish I’d mended it for this very purpose.
