after how well my experiences with the builders games went, i decided to give a mainline dragon quest a fair shake, and went with the snes version of 3 to start with. I had fun with the party customization, but even beyond the expected issues of an NES game, I found the ending a bit lacking. 6.7/10

Shuttah is an enemy in chapter 3 that first appears as a miniboss then becomes a support enemy. The latter fights nerf it but you might not notice if you take advantage of it's allies' ACTs. As an NPC, it will often talk about the past. This may be because a camera's purpose is to record the past.
