The mirror's frame rotates on its handle. Your eyes widen at the glass separating you from him. It's you. Sunken eyes of deep red hollows. Papery skin marked with words of forgotten languages. It's you. And him. And you. Together. As one. The tomb smothers your screams. #HorrorWritersChat
Courage flows into your heart. There's no room for fear anymore. You stare at his desiccated corpse. You raise the mirror to him. The weight, and allure, of lies are often intensified by the characters who tell them. What's your favourite liar archetype in horror? #HorrorWritersChat
Your heart beats faster at the entrance to his tomb. All you need to do is reflect the mirror at him, and he will be banished. It must. It will. Lies are also tools of a false hope/promise. What do your characters fall into before the lie is revealed? #HorrorWritersChat
No-one believed in your determination to cease his hideous osmosis once and for all. They tried to chain you in fear. Doubt. In impossibility. Then, you found his mirror. Lies are tools of manipulation and deceit. What's your favourite way of deceiving your characters? #HorrorWritersChat
Ever since you were born, his presence cast a morose pallor over your family. The icy susurrus raking the walls. The occult secrets warping the souls of his descendants. No more. Tell us who you are, what do you write, and what's your favourite lie told in horror media? #HorrorWritersChat
"Don't give up. I mustn't give up." Conviction is echoed on the pristine glass of the antique mirror you clutch in your sweaty hand. The key. Your hope of lifting this curse. "I won't give up." You descend the stairwell, deeper into the crypt. #HorrorWritersChat
One, final detail, actually; in the provided sketch, you can see that the eyes are traced like eyes should look in art. But in the supposed timelapse, which Emily has provided you AFTER the original sketch, look completely different, warped, and mismatched like genAI does.
The timelapse even showcases some genuine hallmarks of genAI anomalies, such as too many fingers on one hand, and weird, mismatched eyes. This is not an authentic, accurate timelapse of an art sketch. This is a genAI scam, pure and simple.
Anna, you have convinced me that you care deeply about your work and their authenticity. I genuinely appreciate that, for I share the same sentiments. Which is why I must show you that the original sketch Emily supplied you, is completely different to the sketch timelapse.
Good afternoon, #HorrorWritersChat! It is wonderfully cool today, and a storm is raging outside! A perfect weather for tonight. I am EXTREMELY excited for tonight's topic, as it is one of my favourite choices. When a promise is false. When hope is but an illusion. Tonight, the horror of LIES.
Especially if you go to her Twitter account, there are some genuine early AI slop character concepts that she's portraying as her own art, like this one
And, finally, the wooden panelling on the buildings has no cohesive and logical patterning. It is fusing and melting together.
1) The perspective is wrong. The man looks gigantic in comparison to the people behind him 2) His trousers have very different colours and uneven structure 3) His satchel is not properly attached to the strap 4) Your alt text says he is looking at the woman, when he obviously isn't.
One, final example; if we take a look at your main character on the Lena Wants to Live cover, there's no clearer example of genAI usage. The shirt melting into the coat, the coat melting into the background, the shirt having no genuine logical sense to its structure. This is CLEARLY genAI.
What is also further suspicious is that Emily Anderson is using OPPOSING art styles for your book covers. Also, when we take a look at the aristocrat at the bottom right, his decorative wig's spirals do not naturally flow from the top of the wig. It looks strangely fused and duplicated at the top.
@anderlandbooks.bsky.social To add to what Aimee is saying, I'm suspicious of your artist's work because if we take a look at the English and German versions of your latest novel, they have distinctly different details in facial structure, perspective, and even clothes' structure.
"May she sate what you give back." She? Them? I turn to my family, but they're gone already - except Father. The darkness surrounds me. It bleeds into my vision. Below. Around my feet. Golden eyes slowly open. I sink. Our tradition will continue... next week. #HorrorWritersChat
Father looms ahead of me in black shadows. Our farmstead glimmers. It hurts to look at the wheat. It's swaying. Breathing. Swirling around a pitch black hole. What is your personal favourite depiction of tradition in horror? Are they authors, and on BlueSky? Shout them out! #HorrorWritersChat
It's hard to breathe. I can taste blood. My family guides me out to the ochre sky. It feels like a wedding. Is this a wedding? Tradition is often established for something - a season, a god, a family. Which, to you, is the most terrifying, and do you use it in your stories? #HorrorWritersChat
Father never spoke of them to me. The Gilded Ones. "You will thank them for our crops one day." That is all he ever said. Bramble is woven about my bare hands and neck. The barbs sink into my flesh. Are traditions important in your stories? How do you make them nightmarish? #HorrorWritersChat
My family was always quiet. We never spoke much. "Work before word." So says Father. So we do. My cousins braid my hair. My siblings weave a gilded gown about me. Tell us who you are, what do you write, and what traditions do you love see made nightmarish in media? #HorrorWritersChat
Lunch was finished without a word. I sat amidst my family, staring at the tablecloths of spun, dancing wheat. "Prepare the gown." Father's voice rumbled through the house. Effigies of crystal and bramble clinked about his shoulders as he exited. The sky's ochre and yellow today. #HorrorWritersChat
Good afternoon, #HorrorWritersChat! Summer is three weeks away, and yet, many of us can already feel its searing whispers! Seasons of harvest and celebration are upon us - so what better way to host, than to turn these very things nightmarish. Tonight, we explore the horror of Tradition.
If you need a comparison refresher - imagine Castlevania (Dhampirs & attitude), Fear & Hunger (Cosmic horror & occultism), and Silent Hill (Satanism) mixed together, robed in Catholic imagery and language, whose music is heavy, fuzzy psychedelic rock and bluegrass. #Juniplex
Fantastic contributions from everybody, as usual! It's good to be back hosting #HorrorWritersChat! As for myself, a major upset has ocurred... Land of Gold is now going to be a BOOK! An actual NOVEL! ...and it won't be just Lucius facing evil. There will be THREE Dhampirs now. 😈
Every step is leaden, yet… correct. The shadows envelop you. You don’t register the doors slinking back into the frame. She stands between you and the kitchen, a crackle of film grain in the darkness. The door locks with a loud *klik*. Your retracing shall continue… next week. #HorrorWritersChat
The door stutters towards darkness. Yet at its threshold, you can still see the outlines of every single room ahead. And her. You see her, in hazy swirls. Continue this prompt: “She told me to never come here again. Yet here I am – because I have nothing left.” #HorrorWritersChat
And there it is. The cheap, thin door you unlocked as a kid every day after school. Moulding away. Slanted inward, seeping out the hinges. Abandoned locations are also distinguished for their SURROUNDINGS. What are your favourites? Are they natural, urban, or something else? #HorrorWritersChat
