Admittedly I’m an easy buy in on a lovable Mascot Murderer snuffing kids, but the cast of this grabbed me immediately thanks to solid characterization from Boss and the expressive and cartoony but atmospheric style of Burnett. Exquisite Corpses fans are eating good!
An existential quest for purpose and importance, hilariously imagined through a narcissistic cult writer’s return to life in a seedy motel. Stellar artwork from Leomacs sells every page with emotive figures and detailed scenery. Benjamin is affirming: we’re all people of consequence. Loved this.
There’s something about a new Criminal volume. Once I start, I’m completely engrossed, and once I finish I want to reread the entire series. Five Gears in Reverse is dirty and broken and violent and wonderful. One of the best teams to ever play in the genre, across mediums.
Everyone should be lucky enough to have friends who want to kidnap them for a life of late nights and uncomfortable floor sleep.
Slow and deliberate with strong character is how I like my horror. Of the Earth invests in its setting and vibe, its written open primes the reader for a tense first chapter that allows its foreboding air to build until the final page. Adlard and Martin sell each scene. Excellent issue
Hell of a start! Love the color work from Maiolo, especially in the opening sequence. The beats and timing of the pages is dialed in. Totally engrossed in the story Pichetshote is setting up: so stoked GA’s identity is a mystery. The hype is real.
