ECE, 🇨🇦n. E Torontonianan Part of “Fringe” that hates sewage in Toronto’s harbour, crappy air, supports a vital d/t and Lake Ontario recreation. ALSO highspeed rail fan!. Clean air enthusiast. Maker, mender, Wide pant leg defender. PS HATE PIPELINES
Wow, are people on Bluesky looking “UP”! This is it should be! While it is coolish relatively speaking in S Ontario rn and we’ve had a break from air quality warnings this week, it won’t take much to change that. Climate Crisis is now and we should keep “looking up” and do things about it!
Yesterday I saw it.. the very last truffula tree of them all. Given all the smoke and heat I wasn’t too surprised to find it indoors and sapped of its colour Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot.. nothing is going to get better, it’s not.
First Father’s Day without my Dad hits weird. Grateful to get to hang out on the water in one of his favourite spots this weekend.

Since everyone can’t get to Ward’s Island & I was lucky enough to have a recent visit, I’m just going to up some of the messaging the residents there seem to want us to see (and I applaud them!). However, if you CAN go you should. And also sign the petition at environmentaldefence.ca/nojetsto/
Best clotheslines I’ve seen are in Newfoundland. This one in gorgeous Quirpon where we’d just witnessed a humpback feeding frenzy. Post your best clotheslines (aka solar wind powered fabric dryers)!
This is how the current expansion will appear (roughly) proportional to the above. The calculations are not available for the time to refresh the water yet but just looking we can see a significant decrease in space for the water to flow into the harbour.
Billy Bishop expansion Pub health! Red arrows=sewage flow to TO's inner harbour during storms. Image on L is current situation. Inflow into Western Gap & outflow out Eastern Gap. Time H20 refreshed=6.7 days. On R more MODEST 2013 Jets proposal,⬆️takes 12.3 days. Runway expansion=huge⬆️yet. Days=? 💩💧🤢
I know, it’s apparently “Caturday” & trending. But do the dogs ever get a day? Just cause Dog doesn’t rhyme with the start of any day of the week? I am away from her & miss her so posting my sweet one eyed blind pooch! Does anyone else sense the injustice of an unbalanced Caturday? Just me. Ok.
You know what tech actually COULD do for us (since they have run out of good ideas & are doing the DUMBest stuff). Create smello-vision somehow. But phthalate free. A tall order so maybe can keep you preoccupied for while so I can stop downloading updates/replacing stuff & trying to sidestep AI
Just had to sit here in this stinking crappy air VIA train & be passed by a GO train & it just feels all wrong.
Love BC signage re not feeding wildlife & wish we had more of it in Ontario. Meanwhile self abuse is rampant. Have to admire gulls’ ability to work collaboratively & mount fairly aggressive sneak attacks on unsuspecting snackers from behind. Told sometimes falcons brought in to curb-saw none.
I learned a new word “bastule” bridge, and I never guessed I could be quite so enthralled by a bridge. It feels odd and a little unsettling to see the path you are about to take swing up directly in front of you. Johnson St Bridge, Victoria, BC.
I don’t know if this is peak blossom, mid blossom or what, here in Vancouver but these ones around False Creek are just too much.. 😍 hanging down like some crazy gorgeous decorative ceiling under the trees.

Don’t normally share 🌷photos but in 🌎 full of bad news wanted to share a nice story. Made arrangements to go for haircut in advance of my Dad’s upcoming funeral. Had to beg (online form)for waitlist-as fully booked. Got call-cut-condolences. At checkout-to my amazement-they handed me roses-from all!
Unfortunate update. Return trip is on a different kind of train. Old school = old rebreathed air!! @viarailcanada.bsky.social Trying to keep us sick & sleepy? Train #72
One good news thing about VIA Rail is my recent readings on there have been FAR better. Not perfect-FAR better. A few stops where doors opened and let in a little more air. The peak is likely when the food cart was happening and the server engaged in lengthy conversation with my near neighbours.
