This is an off one, but the Tom Swift books. It was always a treat to when I found a new one in the series at a library. They would be considered formulaic and the science written now, but for preteen me they were a major part of SF.

I'm reading an early work by Seanan McGuire - it's a lot of fun, and as unique superhero setting, where Marketing is the ultimate villain. I also finished "Finder: Five Crazy Women" by Carla Speed McNeil, where in this case the anthropological science fiction saga delves into romantic messiness...

I've been wanting to read Seanan McGuire's Velveteen series for years, and for Christmas I received a signed edition! It's a good way to spend a lunch.

Questionable Content is also a gold mine of androids, including former military bot Bubbles, and former police officer Roko. (Yes I know that there may be a debate over purely mechanical vs mechanics and biological elements, it's still all androids to me)
