Oh hey, I was on the podcast of Ancient Robot Games (Edinburgh). Check it out, and check them out! @ancientrobotgames.bsky.social linktr.ee/AncientRobot...
Also if we're talking art in general, probs the biggest one is Vangers: One for the Road. It's so joyfully and deliberately inscrutable. It remains the only licensed property that I truly want to write a licensed TTRPG for. The chances are slim, but maybe someday I will!
Empire of Light, by Rene Magritte. I'm honestly not entirely sure why. I think its the subtly of the surrealism. Magritte's work doesn't have the bombast of Dali, but it makes a more interesting point to me - the falsity and construct of images. The contrast between reality and artifice.
At the Tate in London there was (is) a section called the Rothko Room. Rothkos lines the walls. It's maybe the most palpably intense energy I've ever felt in a room. It almost hurt to be in there. It was amazing.
In some ways my mother is very unique, and in other ways she's just intensely Ya Mam.
Il Fantasma del Giallo is half-way through its 28 day funding campaign, and it's over 150% funded! To celebrate, I've whipped together a reveal for the book cover:
Rebased some 15mm soviets for Chain of Command while something cool was busy rendering.
Thought I'd try a video that sounded interesting, scrolled down to the comments and NOPE NEVERMIND.
I made a 3D replica of an old card table I have in storage today. I did not particularly need to do this but I am deranged (and also it'll be a cool thing for a thing).
It is utterly unacceptable that neelix canonically does an ahegao face in voyager
Wanted to test out a UV unwrap for a book model, so I did the obvious thing and made a cover based on the thumbnail for the 1997-1999 Chris Morris radio sketch show, "Blue Jam".
I really wanna sculpt some weird guys but I'm still trapped in the one air conditioned room, away from my setup. Wanna finish this lil frog guy I started.
Uwah! Now that's a nice thing to wake up. We are funded, took 36 hours. I had no idea what to expect, but I didn't expect things to go this well! But we're not done! As the final amount gets higher, the quality of the print run will improve, and I may even throw in some surprise extras as we go.
There we go! Onward to 100%! Please keep reposting, the sooner we fund the better!
Also available are two special, limited edition versions, masterfully rebound by Creative Quest UK! The "Collector's Edition" and "Premiere Edition" won't be restocked, so get one now! Below are some examples of their fantastic work on @soulmuppet.co.uk's "Paint the Town Red" and "Left Buried".
The Kickstarter has numerous options and addons! Along with the digital PDF and the physical book, there are three digital addons: - An original soundtrack, composed by Vortigan King (@edsibley.bsky.social, check feed for samples) - An STL set of 28mm miniatures - An STL set of decorative busts.
Didn't get as much sleep as I'd like, but a nice thing to wake up to! 66% of the way there. If we could possibly fund in under 24 hours, that'd be incredible! Appreciate everyone who's shared and reposted <3
Another thing to be excited about today!
Not exactly experienced with these things, but 33% funded after a bit more than hour seems pretty good to me!
The game uses a bespoke card-based trick-taking system to resolve fights, arguments, chase scenes, and other such events. Characters with opposing aims play a conflict, and bidding rounds build narrative in a back-and-forth exchange. Whoever loses the conflict, takes the Trauma and the consequences.
Within the Yellow, mystery is built through collaboration - and not even the GM knows where the plot is going. Scenes are drafted as you play, with the Evidence acquired contributing to a web of vice and deception. Reality bends as information slips hazily back and forth between truth and lies.
Il Fantasma is split between two realities - the Real, the strange purgatory in which your Actors are trapped; and the Yellow, a filmic dimension built not of sight and sound, but of narrative. Experiences, Truths, and Trauma gathered in the Yellow are used in the Real to progress.
Aaaaactually one more testimonial (probably) before the launch later today! The wonderful @thoughtrise.bsky.social, who I've only met in person once, and yet we're close friends. She's just that kind of person, really. She's one of the players in the recorded session I'll be releasing very soon!
Final testimonial before launch tomorrow @ 5pm UK time! From @stillfleet.bsky.social, who I could probably talk to all day, given the opportunity.
From the brilliant (so much so that it's slightly intimidating) @floaker.bsky.social!
