consequence: we cannot consider Al to be
morally neutral. In reality, every technical tool
embodies choices and priorities through what
it measures, ignores and optimizes, and how it
classifies people and situations. If a system is
designed or used in a way that treats some
lives as less worthy, or excludes them without
the possibility of appeal, then it is not merely a
tool "to be used well," since it has already
introduced criteria that contradict the
inalienable dignity of the human person. For
this reason, ethical discernment cannot be
limited to asking whether we are using a
system for good or bad purposes; it must also
examine how that system is designed and
what vision of the human person and society is
embedded in the data and models that guide it.

BREAKING: Meta laid off 8,000 people today via 4am
emails.
From Singapore to the UK to the US, employees became
ex-employees before the sun came up.
And Meta made sure of it. They told everyone to work
from home today - not out of consideration, but so
there'd be no scene at the office when the emails
landed.
The same company that has been tracking employees'
mouse clicks, keystrokes, and screen activity - under a
program called the "Model Capability Initiative" - to train
Al to replicate how humans work. Today, 8,000 of those
humans got a 4am email.
Meta also announced they're shifting 7,000 remaining
positions into Al-focused roles. So if you survived today,
congratulations - you now work for the machine that's
being built to eliminate your job next.
And they're cutting management layers to get "more
efficient." Which is rough news for every mid and late-
career worker who spent decades doing exactly what
they were told - keep climbing, keep climbing.
Unfortunately that ladder led straight to the exit.
Meta just posted record profits this quarter. This isn't
some distressed company making hard choices. It's a
choice.
If you were impacted today, please know this is not on
you. You were following the rules, they just forgot to
mention they were changing them.
