Today I found out they closed the medieval pub that used to be my 2nd home. I worked there, ate there, partied there... and now it is a convenience store. It served as a pub since at least 1800 but now it sells pens and pot noodles. RIP The Oak

Watching every movie released in 1987: Slam Dance A very flawed erotic noir that seemed to go on forever but did feature at least 3 (maybe 4) Star Trek alumni. Even the strap line is still trying to explain this movie.

Watching every movie released in 1987: Three O'Clock High A surprisingly well put together teen comedy with an interesting cast (a young Paul Feig appears as a hall monitor?!?). I wasn't expecting much but I could see this being an absolute favourite movie from someone's youth.

Watching every movie released in 1987: Masters of the Universe A 2nd Star Trek actor in the run but even Robert Duncan McNeil couldn't save it. I remember this being the movie that first made me realize movies could just be bad.

Watching every movie released in 1987: Nadine with Kim Basinger and Jeff Bridges Released on this day in 1987 and even though it feels a little superficial I think this movie works pretty well by modern standards. A prety slick and simple movie.

Watching every movie released in 1987: Fatal Beauty 2nd appearances on the list already for Whoopie and for Rubén Blades, but a first for Sam Elliot. Promotional shots aside, this movie was not much to look at and it barely held together.

Watching every movie released in 1987: The Living Daylights This was huge for me as a kid and it's really hard to be objective about Bond, but I had a great time with this movie again.

Watching every movie released in 1987: The Step Father Pretty creepy and enjoyable movie. This one was new to me and in hindsight it probably wasn't a good choice to watch on a plane.

Watching every movie released in 1987: Critical Condition Even Richard Pryor's bad movies are pretty enjoyable. This is the first appearance on the list for Randall "Tex" Cobb, who I was obsessed by as a kid and who I know is still going to return in, at the very least, Raising Arizona.

Watching every movie released in 1987: Street Smart with Christopher Reeve & Morgan Freeman. An enjoyable, sleazy, and surprisingly dark crime thriller. Another new-to-me movie I'd probably never have seen without this little endeavor (6/210)

Watching every movie released in 1987: Outrageous Fortune A very silly comedy but Midler and Long are fantastic. In searching for this image I found there's 2 versions of all the releases because of a deal for both actors to get top billing. Including 2 prints of the movie (I'm only watching one).

Watching every movie released in 1987: Burglar, with a really great cast. Whoopi Goldberg, Bob(cat) Goldthwait, John Goodman... but the highlight for me was the first Star Trek connection with Ethan Phillips. I was amazed I'd never seen this.

Watching every movie released in 1987: Wild Thing with Robert Knepper (Prison Break, Heroes) Felt like an extended pilot to a bad TV show. A hideous movie and I loved every minute.

Watching every movie released in 1987: Katheryn Bigelow's Near Dark. Still loved this even if parts of it haven't aged as well as Lance Henriksen.
