For nonfiction:
We are looking exclusively for single narrative nonfiction projects in this call.

We will accept themed collections of essays, but we would prefer to pick up single-topic books here. We'd like to see work that covers a little-known Southern topic, explores a new location or perspective.

What we’d love to find:
deeply researched, single-narrative, imaginative manuscripts about the South.

For fiction:

We are looking for novels ideally under 75k words that come from overlooked or under appreciated Southern perspectives.

What we'd love to find:
out-of-the-box historical novels, queer Appalachian folk retellings, multi-generational Southern family tales, experimental forms, literary speculative climate change fiction, voice-driven character pieces, auto-fiction. We'd like to learn something new about the South.
