Broad bodied chaser. Always nice to see these in the garden. And while checking the pond membrane for leaks after the daft/deaf/blind old dog fell in again yesterday evening I saw we have a couple of newts. Also a nuthatch (not in the pond) which always seems very special.

Here's the Military Medal citation for one of my neighbours where I grew up that I looked up later. His wife was a chatty cockney but he was quiet & more reserved than other men his generation on the street. I remember him angry with us once when we were playing 'war'. 40+ yrs later I realized why.
