My few figs have been falling before they ripen ☹️. And my mulberries are in fruit again, which is terrifying because there are still 4 huge bags in the freezer. So I picked & trimmed the green figs & the ripe mulberries & made 1 perfect jar of green fig & mulberry jam.
Here is one of our cats, Kaylee, who’s keeping me cozily back in bed this morning instead of getting on the exercise bike 😅
Anyway here’s a mulberry pie I made last week. It isn’t gorgeous but it’s my first two-crust pie and OMG it was delicious.
Anyway here is my 88-year-old mom having a great time in the swimming pool. I ate two pieces of cake. It was a great day.
If you haven’t read MONSTER OF A LAND by @laurenhough.bsky.social yet, you need to. It’s got so much heart in it — heart that we could all use right now. It’ll help pull you together, like it has helped me, honest it will. And there’s a dog. He’s a good dog.
We were lucky enough to go camping for a couple of nights in this gorgeous spot.
I feel that you need to see this stern Steller’s Jay, this plump ground squirrel, and this young ground squirrel and Steller’s Jay saying hi to each other (they sniffed each other briefly, then the Jay hopped over the squirrel & went on his way).
Mine too. Literally eating these home-baked monsters right now, because unfortunately I listen to my gremlins
Absolutely riveted by THE WAGER, by @davidgrann.bsky.social, to the point where it’s been hard to get to sleep at night because I just want to keep reading. Absolutely recommended for anyone who likes a good sea story or survival story. Grann really brings these long-ago characters to life.
Maternal grandfather worked his way up from box boy to VP of Transportation for the Thrifty Corporation. Paternal grandfather was a shoemaker and a true craftsman. They ended up very dear friends ❤️
@kiturnix.bsky.social thinking of you. Thought you might like this plump California Quail and this teeny American Kestrel in my backyard in the rain.
@kiturnix.bsky.social glad you found strength for today. was beautiful. 💔 thinking of you and sending continued strength for navigating going forward . sending you an Australian rosella
We get minced real and vegan chorizo here, and so the solid sort confused me, until I saw this Wikipedia entry:
You can still grab this black-light-sensitive, adult medium-sized super soft beanie for a $35 contribution to @culturalgutter.bsky.social — if you were thinking about it, get it now before I list it on Etsy for more $$ !! crowdfundr.com/perks/1Xnaf?...
@kiturnix.bsky.social thinking of you. Here is a small plump Australian dove for you.
Last night of Hanukkah. But it’s solstice, so we know the light will return…
It’s 9:30. I’ve had breakfast, fed the cats and taken my cup of tea to the guest bedroom to cuddle with a cat so yes I’m still in bed

For #SundayPixBelovedCritters, here are some West Australian #quokkas from our last trip
Here’s a #SundayPixPicture I painted 33 years ago. Obviously there are many things wrong with it, but I remain fond of it. Isn’t it a nice rump? Someday I’d like to learn to paint properly though. #NSFW
