An unfortunate outcome for a deer vs fence has brought in some prime birdwatching this week. Ravens, osprey, and now bald eagles.
People have different things they look/hear for to signal when 'real' spring is here. Mine arrived this morning when I heard the first woodcock "meep" of the year. Happy Spring!
Late night bracket predictions for tomorrow. Cornell and Dartmouth were a 1st rd ECAC matchup so flipped Cornell and PSU. Really hoping they keep the Dogs in NY and dont flip with Providence. All 4 NCHC teams in 2 regions is no fun... but could see them changing it for travel.

Not a fan of snow after track practice starts, but we need moisture after a low snow winter and it is still beautiful in March.
Above freezing today, so may as well have a rum punch while watching olympic replays. Obligated to say the wife made it, my cocktails are generally whiskey +/- ice.
Today's field to fork: pheasant tikka masala. Recipe adapted from Americas Test Kitchen with two pheasant crowns instead of chicken and red pepper added.
The reason this sucked isn't because the Bills deserved to win, it's because a couple marginal flags (that were let go all game) wrecked the entertainment that was on the field.
Today's rendition of field to fork. Broccoli, red pepper, and venison stir fry. Honestly like it better than with beef. For those curious, used a chuck cut that was halved and cut into strips across the grain.
And people said a 2N can't take on a lot of snow. The little tractor that could.
Last night the roads were not good, but an AWD car with good tires was more than enough to drive the 30 miles home from work at midnight. No truck/SUV needed, though a few more inches may have caused some clearance issues.
Hard day for football, but a pleasant evening for a fire. Looking forward to snow this week so we can stop looking at dead grass
First time seeing pine grosbeaks. Absolutely loved the crabapple tree in our yard. Unfortunately the fog made getting a quality picture/video from a phone rather difficult.
First venison dish of the "new" year. A traditional pot roast that the wife paired a pinot noir with. Absolutely delicious and enough for a leftover lunch.
Deer season 2025 os over and the cooler is full. Can't wait to cook it.
