It’s looking more promising at the Quality Street, Main Street roundabout. The temp lights were temporarily out yesterday which looked stressful for all involved 😬
Fun fringe sights on my cycle last night, including these new lights installed at Davidsons Mains Park in Edinburgh. I assume this is aimed at wildlife? I’ll be sure to stay on the road, I’m already amped up cycling home on an empty Blackhall path I don’t need more shocks by then 😂
One of these days I’ll learn how to fix a flat 😬 happens a lot to me in Edinburgh but a pleasure a bike fits in a black cab! Although would have been so fresh on the paths this evening … share with me your bike joy today?? #edtravcyc
Some #EdTravCyc news for those using the Blackhall path in Edinburgh. It’s a bit obstructed near the Ferry Road bridge. It’s been reported - it’s starting to leak smells this afternoon.
Hey Barnton and NW Edinburgh! Join me to @pedalonparliament.org for a cycle-safe Scotland next Saturday 🚲💐🚲
Just a beautiful moment on the Blackhall path last night cycling home. Just saw someone post about “bike slow, take photos” and yes exactly that.
I’ll never not find it weird to be voting in a church … but hey ho took the family on a trip for democracy today #scottishelections
Is it just me or has Lothian buses become entirely unreliable and unpredictable? So many ghost buses, entirely impossible to plan any kind of travel. I miss my bike - and wish there was a cargo bike that fit 3 not tiny kids
Oh was it snowing on Sunday and beach weather now on Tuesday? “Beach weather” is doing some heavy lifting for this former Floridian but when in Scotland…
Flashing red light means the battery is loose? There’s a lot of inherent knowledge assumed! Conclusion- cheap, made getting around super easy today, really wish our built environment was safer or that e-bikes could do 20 mph too. Didn’t enjoy getting seasick 🥺 Would ride again in a pinch
Really punishes you going >25 kph, which I get but doesn’t feel safe in some environments (Dean Bridge) and makes a janky (nauseous) ride if you regularly ride faster (thanks Zwift) The large frame is better on cobbles but a lot harder for me to break The slow pick up is dangerous at intersections
Today I did a Voi bike day in Edinburgh #edtravcyc My thoughts: Very convenient when it turns out at 11 pm we don’t have a spare tube and I need to go NW to S to E on a Sunday The smaller frame is easier to brake! But makes me v nauseous! The intense speed limiter…
Just to jump on the pothole discourse, this mighty one nearly swallowed my cargo bike tyre at Elder St/York - it’s right in the middle of the bike path. It’s gotten a lot bigger this week. Insert joke about AI fixing it, etc etc. But, can we just fix it, Edinburgh Council? 🥺 #edtravcyc @edi.bike
The best night of the year for a cycle through Edinburgh! Love flying down Princes Street, seeing the lights, playing some music. 10/10 Christmas tradition
Edinburgh mural at St Johns’s, just outside the Christmas market. All refugees should be welcome here
How it started -> How it’s going I’m not sure I *should* feel grateful for what should be standard service but here we are, fellow Edinburgh cyclists. Email to counsellor was effective, eventually. Here’s to safety to all in 2026!
An update - nothing has changed. And what’s worse is broken glass is proliferating on George St. We lost a tyre on Sunday to the glass by the barrier - and it’s still there today. I’ve emailed the Active Travel team over the wknd and a counsellor - any taggable here?
Coming back from George St we’re meant - I think - to use the left lane to cross the intersection to Charlotte Square. I cannot get my cargo bike to do this turn. I keep trying to take photos. Private businesses making this entirely unusable. Plus some of those blocks are really hard to get pass!
But that wasn’t the only danger today. We get to George St and the Ice Bar is leaking water onto the road leaving streams of ice over the bike path. This is a photo of the ice from the ice rink. I get that tourists are tops in winter but actively laying traps for cyclists seems… wild? And yet
Edinburgh has lost the plot. Today my kid and I (me w/2 more kids on my bike) had to bike through frozen leaves on Queensferry Rd. We tried to use the road but a Range Rover decided we were impinging on his freedom and drove us into the wands. The leaves are well done falling and yet they remain…
