This visual kinship highlights a fascinating cultural exchange. The White House, often understood as a purely American symbol, in fact draws deeply from European—particularly Irish—sources. Leinster House thus becomes part of the architectural genealogy of the American presidency, showing how the language of power developed in one capital could be adapted and reimagined in another.

One of Count Binface's persistent manifesto points is about moving the hand-dryer in the gents toilet of a specific pub to a better place. Which, in fairness, sounds like a more worthwhile endeavour than anything Farage has done. And as for Eurovision Song Contest, the UK couldn't do much worse.

DARVO is a tactic used by a perpetrator to avoid accountability for their actions.[5] As the acronym suggests, DARVO commonly involves these steps:

The perpetrator denies the harm or abuse ever took place.[6]
When confronted with evidence, the perpetrator then attacks the person that they had harmed, or are still harming. The attacker may also attack the victim's family or friends.[7]
Finally, the perpetrator claims that they were or are actually the victim in the situation, thus reversing the positions of victim and offender.[2][4] It often involves not just playing the victim but also victim blaming.

After learning through media reports of FIFA’s decision to lift the automatic suspension of player Balogun, the RBFA sent a letter to FIFA requesting a copy of the decision, an explanation of the process that had been followed, and setting out its position regarding the applicable regulations.

As its only response, FIFA sent a letter to the RBFA stating that it considered this correspondence to constitute an appeal, that a judge had been appointed, and that the RBFA had only a few hours to complete that appeal. No information whatsoever was provided by FIFA.

For an appeal to be admissible, FIFA’s own regulations state that the reasoned decision must first have been communicated to the appellant. While the RBFA was merely seeking legitimate explanations, FIFA itself created an appeal and immediately ensured that it would be declared inadmissible.

The violence in Belfast and further afield is not how it appears on screen, and it’s overly simplistic to blame outside online actors. Clearly social media has an organising and amplifying role, and emotions are being boiled, but that isn’t the only thing going on.

Basically police stations used to look like this: fortresses from which the police would periodically emerge bristling with weapons in armoured 4X4s supported by British military vehicles. Or foot patrols of 2 cops surrounded by a dozen soldiers doing gymnastics leaping over garden walls and such.
