Rejoice comrades!!!! Tractor production is up 3%... Non-ferrous metal production is up 4.5%... Synthetic dye manufacturing is up 8%!!!
Precisely. Amartya Sen produced the Entitlements Model to explain why mass famines happen.
Yeah - and it'll be a faux antiquey thing with a cheapo quartz movement and a battery. If somebody wants to give me a clock for the mantelpiece, an Atmos would be greatfully received. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Suburbs in this context not meaning leafy avenues of nice houses with prosperous families and lots of money. In the French context he's talking about the Banlieue - areas of poverty and social deprivation on the outskirts of major cities.
James Hoban was directly inspired by the aristocratic Dublin home of the Earl of Kildare (Leinster House) which he modified for the design for the White House. (Leinster House is now home to the Irish parliament) www.irish-architecture.com/archdublin/1...
Yup - we're going through the last dying gasp of the fossil fuel era. Renewables are already taking off. The govt here is offering grants/subsidies to people who switch from petrol cars to EVs of up to 10,000 euros. There is a real momentum building. www.gov.ie/en/departmen...
The surreal news of Nigel Farage's desperate stunt to avoid scrutiny for his financial deals backfiring and now having to fight an election campaign against Count Binface is what @jenmercieca.bsky.social would say is a way to weirdify fascism. It destroys the myth of their omnipotence.
One of Count Binface's persistent manifesto points is about moving the hand-dryer in the gents toilet of a specific pub to a better place. Which, in fairness, sounds like a more worthwhile endeavour than anything Farage has done. And as for Eurovision Song Contest, the UK couldn't do much worse.
Farage's entire rant was just another piece of populist political DARVO theatre. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DARVO
6 seats???????? Sounds as safe as the olden days when the smallest kids would be carried in the boot of a Ford Cortina.
None of that fancy Capri Sun stuff now - proper culchie TK Red Lemonade. Bought from a petrol station in the Midlands. Served warm.
Yeah - exactly. King Billy lives forever as far as certain groups in Northern Ireland are concerned.
The teenage rioters you saw on tv were the usual suspects - Recreational Rioters already hyped up and ready to cause mayhem because Marching Season is around the corner. Happens every summer. They're being groomed by the UVF etc to become the next generation of paramilitary thugs.
I know we've all moved on now thanks to the way the media works, but this is an excellent article that gives more context on the Belfast pogroms. Don't fall into the simplistic narrative of thinking it's all down to Musk & social media. www.thebureauinvestigates.com/stories/2026...
Or read Mayday and see what a disaster looks like at 60,000+ feet (spoiler: lots of brain damage 😬)
Ditto - my grandfather flew in WW2 and never spoke about it and would not have tolerated any Nazi shit whatsoever. Have his log book which all the pilots in his squadron signed when WW2 was declared.
His manifesto would have to be tweaked slightly for the American electorate but far more sensible policies than I've seen coming from the Republicans... ever???? 👍
Absolutely huge mark up if you want a dollop of cream with your bread pudding!
A 🧵clarifying and expanding on my earlier thoughts about the National Far-Right and Musk Destabilisation Cycle. 1. Random event occurs involving an asylum seeker or immigrant. 2. National far-right politicians exploit the situation to push their talking points and dogwhistle racism.
Indeed. Dinosaur-powered innovations were also completely absent from the data. Shocking.
Basically police stations used to look like this: fortresses from which the police would periodically emerge bristling with weapons in armoured 4X4s supported by British military vehicles. Or foot patrols of 2 cops surrounded by a dozen soldiers doing gymnastics leaping over garden walls and such.
