TV addict, nerdy fan of Dystopian drama. Love a bit of ScandiNoir, Science-Fiction, Aviation, Military History and Cold War Radars & Bunkers. Wellbeing Walks Leader and Community Volunteer in Barrow-in-Furness with Active Cumbria. #ParkRun #LoveParkRun
Gentle #parkrun this morning, as my right knee continues to give me issues. But I had a lovely chat going round with Julie and it was a lot cooler than last week. #LoveParkrun
The Celebration Event is happening this Wednesday; I’ve been asked to speak at it about being a #WellbeingWalk Leader. There are walking events on all week across Barrow, so if you live in South Cumbria we’d love to see you at one or more of them.
My 4 segments according to Runna, based on Strava which in turn takes in data from my Garmin. I just need to work on maintaining that kind of pace over greater distances, and I should see improvement in my 5k times perhaps?
Week 6 of helping Sonja with our Couch to 5k Group, followed by drills with Panthers. Warmup first followed by 400m Tempo splits, with Cath, Mike, Sonja and Jo. Thanks for the ice mocha afterwards Sonja; very much appreciated. 😃👍🏃♂️ #Running #RunningPunks
It was warm today! Not great for being a pacer today at #parkrun so well done to all of us for doing an amazing job. And well done to all parkrunners if you were out this morning across the world. Now having a cold drink and some lunch. 🥰 #LoveParkrun
The lovely people at Travel Actively Barrow have done a wonderful job of describing me and my #WellbeingWalk Hopefully I get a few people to join me and the weather is kind to us. Not too hot and not too cold! #ActiveTravel #Cumbria
Pacer day at Barrow #parkrun and I’m wearing the 36 minute vest. It’s going to be a warm one, so I’m taking a small coolbag for my water bottle. Stay safe my fellow parkrunners wherever you are. #LoveParkrun #Running #RunningPunks
I love seeing it and wonder why production designers don’t stop and think for a second; and imagine how annoying a display with dozens of plots or tracks bleeping wouldn’t be fracking annoying! 😆
Watching #StarCity and they’ve managed to roll 2 Radar tropes in to 1… a bleeping screen & a display with no plots on it plus the brightness is whacked up to max! Radar screens don’t fracking bleep. And you would burn the fluorescent coating on a Cathode Ray Tube with your brightness that high.
A well earned cold drink this morning after we had been #LitterPicking around central Barrow. Not sure what Hartington Street is playing at, but it was worse than usual. Lots of butterflies and bees 🐝 🦋 out but none would pose for a photo. #Volunteering #Cumbria #ActiveTravel
I remember absolutely loving this and also being a fan of ‘Crime Story’ around the same time. One of the UK tv channels had it on, possibly Channel 4?
My Garmin plan for Saturday is ready to go; its Pacer Day at Barrow #Parkrun #LoveParkrun
I’ll be signing autographs later… 🤩😆 #Volunteering #ActiveTravel #Barrow #Cumbria
Checking EventBrite to see what events are happening during ‘Walk This Way’ and there’s a Celebration Event in which ‘one of Barrow’s most prevalent walk leaders’ is speaking. Who can that be I’m wondering? It’s me! I’ve been invited to speak, and they’re talking about me. Embarrassment overload!
We had a gorgeous morning for our #WellbeingWalk today and a record attendance. Amelie did a nature survey with us and we finished off with a well earned ice cream at the cafe. #Cumbria #Volunteering @cumbriacvs.bsky.social
Notwithstanding the sale of a beautiful piece of Barrow history to a developer who will probably want to convert it in to flats; what happens to the people who need help in a central location? I’ll read the article, but I’d like to hope that someone steps in buys the building and then donates it.
Walking back from Tesco and got the shock of my life seeing myself on a poster. The photo was taken last year at the first event of the Walking Festival 2025; I took up #running because of that festival. There was a 5k taster run on the last day, and this year I’m hosting! #Cumbria #ActiveTravel
New shorts have arrived too, though why they couldn’t just come in a Jiffy bag is a mystery, instead of a massive box. 📦 Used some of my points earned to nab a bargain. #Running #RunningPunks
New shoes for #running I’m tweaking my collection, I think these should be a bit more comfortable to run in for 5k and 10k distances. #RunningPunks
Today we remember the 52 people who were killed, the people who were injured and affected, the heroes who helped and those who lost loved ones because of the terrible events twenty one years ago on the 7th of July 2005 in London. #LondonBombings #NeverForget #7July @allontheboard.bsky.social
#USAvBEL The Belgian 🇧🇪 football ⚽️ team’s Instagram account is on fire today.
My exuberance in booking a second half marathon is now justified! My Runna plan for the Conwy Half Marathon on 15th November has me down to run a ‘19km Hilly Long Run’ on 25th October… It just so happens I’ll add on an extra 2km and the hills will be around Oldham and Saddleworth. 🏃♂️😆 #Running
A few more pics of me #Running on Sunday over at the Walney 10k. My #Parkrun pal Lucy is at the back of the pack in the third photo. Pacer day this Saturday if anyone is in the Barrow area. #LoveParkrun I’m wearing the 36 minute pacer vest. #RunningPunks
Confirmation of my chip time from yesterday’s 10k. Just a shame that we have so few senior and veteran runners in the club, but they did warn me when I joined. I was the only Barrow Strider running yesterday in a race taking place in Barrow.
The last police officer murdered in Northern Ireland was PC Frank O'Reilly, who died in 1998, four weeks after suffering major injuries when a bomb exploded during loyalist protests at Drumcree. I think Loyalists describing themselves as such, whilst responsible for murdering police is beyond irony
Couple of pics of me in action today. ©️Sprint Finish Photography. #Running #RunningPunks
Ran in my 3rd ever 10k road race this morning and set my second fastest time, plus a fastest 5k, 1 miler and 2 miler time. Massive thanks to Walney Wind Cheetahs for their excellent organisation, really appreciated by me and all the runners this morning. #Running #RunningPunks #Cumbria
