During university I wrote a few essays on Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso. He’s my favorite artist from my home country. He befriended other artists like the Delaunays and Picasso, but died too early in 1918 from the Spanish flu at just 31. Really like his cubist/collage era
Keeping this one in the box until I retire. Let’s see if it outperforms the S&P 500
I really like this concept: Morioka Shoten, a Japanese bookstore that sells only one book at a time. It is contrarian to what book stores usually look like, but creating an art exhibition for each single book really elevates books to a form of art. Wish I could visit. Project by the agency Takram.
Going through the photos on my phone. This one is cool. Not sure what it’s supposed to be though.
Back home it feels like spring is just around the corner. In Bad Harzburg it feels like winter has just arrived.
Buamai, a visual inspiration archive is now owned by designspiration . com They seem to have a cool user base. Can’t wait to see what they share.
Real stories are now having its authenticity diluted by AI motives. People reporting on things that look real, but didn’t happen, or things that did happen, but paired with an AI interpretation of reality. (No, this photo of Punch isn’t real)
It’s embarrassing to see human excellence be represented by artificial intelligence. www.yahoo.com/entertainmen...
Meanwhile in the real world. I fear AI is finding its way into fashion.
While buying snacks for New Year’s Eve I found this brand of chips. Had to buy it just for the packaging. Differentiation works, especially in a category where everything looks the same.
Attended the candlelight procession for the first time. I don’t believe any of the words, but it was nice.
Found this old photo of my Windows Phone home screen. So many years later there’s still nothing like it.
When everything gets copied, nothing feels new anymore. I wrote a short piece about what this means for design and brands, and why continual change might not be such a bad idea. #designsky www.ideasondesign.com/p/if-your-br...
Every time I check Snøhetta’s website, I remember teenage me wanted to be an Architect, then went for Design. I love design, but good architecture kicks ass. In the picture, a project by Snøhetta for the Heyligenstaedt area of Gießen.
Ffs, self directed excretion every 50min. You survive, but end up with some sort of PTSD.
Nice (new) commercial from Apple, voiced by the late Jane Goodall. Feels like a nod back to Apple’s roots of serving creative people. Also loved spotting a frame from one of my favorite films last year, Flow. Had no idea it was made on a Mac.
