@goodjobsfirst.org does incredible work to expose how much taxpayers are getting scammed by the tax breaks governments are giving data center projects. We highly recommend following their work & subscribing to them! This is deep economic injustice. From their latest newsletter:

Ohio is Not Alone
With the revelation, Ohio joins a small group of states now losing more than $1 billion to data center tax breaks. In Virginia, the state's data center sales and use tax exemption has grown to $1.9 B a year in state and local revenue losses. That amount could cover aboutu 25,000 average Virginia teacher salaries. In Georgia, data center tax breaks are projected to cost $2.5 billion just in 2026, including $1.1 billion in losses to local governments. A state audit found that most data center projects would have located in Georgia even without the subsidy. In Texas, data center tax exemptions have exploded from a minor line item into a multi-billion-dollar taxpayer commitment. According to a Texas Senate Interim change, the cost of the sales tax exemption for qualifying data centers grew from an estimated $14.6 million in the 2014-15 biennium to a projected $3.3 billion in 2028-29.
The pattern is clear: Big Tech announces enormous capital investment. Politicians celebrate. Tax breaks flow. Then, years later, the bill arrives - much bigger than ever imagined.

Today we stand in solidarity with workers. We have workers and unions to thank for the weekend, the 8 hour workday and increases to worker rights and higher wages. When we come together and demand justice, we absolutely can and do win.

Today marks an important day to withdraw your participation in the economy to disrupt the business as usual that’s exacerbating wealth inequality and exploiting the majority to needless suffering and death. They need us because we are the economy.

We fight for workers and all people to be free from exploitation. We fight for all people to live with dignity. Our economy is made up of all of the working people and the people that contribute unpaid labor that happens without financial compensation, but is ESSENTIAL.

Our economy must recognize our inherent dignity whether or not we work. Our economy should support people not because they are producers or consumers, but as people. We are all deserving of the income we need to survive.

2025 was the worst year of layoffs since the pandemic. AI automation played a huge role in this, allowing large corporations to automate and layoff thousands of people. 207,572 are without income AND there are more unemployed people than jobs. We need a basic income!
