Well that's it, Falkner (I've been spelling his name wrong this whole time :/) has been defeated, but not without a price - both Stanothy 🐁 & Woooo Wooo fainted & Totodile almost followed them. His dad's prize Pokémon was... A Lvl 13 Pidgeotto? Not even a Pigeot? I always think early Gyms are funny.

Luckily I had Woooo wooo up my sleeve (my Gastly, not the cocktail 🍹) who has one of the moves which made it such a favourite as a kid - Curse. Unlike other status effects, it can't be removed or healed (AFAIK) so applying it early on can come in clutch, as it did here, even if Gastly faints.

Damn, Roost 🪶 feels super strong. My Team just slightly under-leveled to make much quick headway against this heal. Again did Faulkner's Pidgeotto have this in Gold? I genuinely don't know how much Heart Gold changes 🤷

The sacrificial play of @thetraderstan.bsky.social worked exactly as intended. I've never done a Nuzlocke, so we'll be seeing this squeaker 🐁 back up in no time. Should I try a Nuzlocke for the next Pokémon game I play, which will be one I've /never/ even attempted? (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum) 🤔

I did not remember the Violet City gym being multilevel in Gold, I really like it. Is there a point to the hidden walkway? Did I miss a secret here?

IngusChild assures me that this lineup will do for Faulkner - I was expecting to need mostly Lvl 15 Pokémon, expecting Lvl ~18 Gym Leader Pokémon, so we'll see. I'll change Stanothy to go first to be my sacrificial rat 🐁 in case it all goes horribly wrong.

I had absolutely no idea that Spinarak could learn Night Shade, which as a verified Ghost-type enjoyer, has put Iraq way way up in my estimations 📈. It's also my highest level Poké right now! 🕸️🕷️ It's going to be tough to box when it evolves so maybe, like Bilbo... Why shouldn't I keep it?

Hoppip is, like Wooper, just such a joyous lil Poké. This happy demeanor hides its competitive nature, its desire to WIN, to crush its enemies beneath the dirt it bounds so merrily across. Say hi to gWINdolyn. I know for a fact this has several evolutions, it's power will come 😈

Ah. The Ruins of Alph. I never liked Unowns but I guess I'll try and get enough to unlock the Unowndex at least. Are they popular Pokémon? I remember this area had some puzzles which confused me as a kid. I'll return once Faulkner is defeated & see if it's as hard as I remember 🤔.

The last post was immediately undermined when it came round to naming Wooper. I'm pretty sure Wooper has at least one evolution so she'll be back for me to make strong, fearsome, a veritable AssWooper.

They just handing out rare HMs (Hyper Moves? Helpful Moves? Huge Moves? 🤷) over here? Just as well really as I have no recollection of where to pick up any of these which may be a problem later.

Can't really describe how much, as a kid playing Pokémon Yellow, I wanted to be able to have my Gastly follow me like Pikachu did. And Heart Gold allows for that! Maybe it's all gonna be ok...

Caught my beloved spoopy 👻 lil ball, Gastly who will take up my second permanent team slot alongside Totodile. Wasn't wearing my GhostSpeak Amulet so not sure what his name actually is, all I could make out was "Woooo wooo". Also his ability - are Ghost types not immune to ground moves anyway!?

Wtf are these prices. $2000 for only 10 Pokéballs?! Pokémon is a rich kids pastime & it's all too easy to forget you are ENSLAVING ANIMALS & BATTLING THEM FOR MONEY. Anyway, I did get a Premier Ball for free. Seems like something the poors would use, so I won't as a matter or principle.

Vine Whip isn't very effective against Bug types apparently (I genuinely don't know the type chart & searching it up is effort😬) so there's potential Iraq will solo the entirety of Sprout Tower. There's something to say here about Iraq bringing the Tower down but I wouldn't dare allude to it.
