Messing around with wire, then drawings based on that, aiming to design something better. There will be many more rounds of thinking and several more actual makes before I get something that I'm happy with. Would help if I could find my jewellery anvil.

Messy drawings in pink and orange, similar to the copper and beads piece to the right, but the drawings are more complex. Looks a bit like a tentacle (which is what it is supposed to be), but maybe a bit more like an excessively tall wizards hat... Copper piece is wrapped wire and two mm faceted glass beads in green for the main part, with two types of blue beads at the bottom.

There are several things wrong with this bit of weaving / kumihimo. One is that I don't think the colours go together as well as I thought they did before I started. Another is that it isn't art for the @laworldcon.bsky.social art show...

A zig-zag kumihimo braid still on the (square) disk, with bobbins of the thread. It's waxed threads in yellow, orange, and dark red. It really needed a bright red instead. Oh well...

Some doodles for today. The calligraphy earlier this week has re-awoken my desire to art. The book these are in is tiny - fewer delayed gratification issues!

Took a calligraphy intro class today. The teacher was lovely and it was interesting. However, let us just say that calligraphy is still on my list of things to learn...

Despite having adjusted to multiple weirdness of apartment addresses in Scotland, Jersey City still amuses me with it's and-a-half numbers. Today was a cheerfully yellow day - we have a brief stint of not-actually-too-hot days.

This is the only sheet of life drawings by Raphael
that may be connected to the Naval Battle of Ostia
fresco in the Stanza dell'Incendio (completed by
his workshop). The drawing renders two standing
male nudes of muscular anatomy with such
virtuosic handling of the red chalk that it suggests
a demonstration piece, rather than a functional
working drawing. It was once owned by the grear
German painter and printmaker Albrecht Dürer
(1471-1528). A handwritten note by Dürer on
the right reads (in translation), "1515. Raphael of
Urbino, who was so highly esteemed by the Pope,
made this drawing of these naked men, and sent
it to Albrecht Dürer in Nuremberg, to show him
his hand.

Framing is getting there... I hope some folks who go to Balticon like my work.

Four framed ink paintings of dragons over cities and/or mountains, all in shades of purple, with white matting and black frames. To either side are more frames with words in, and you can tell there is stuff behind the main six. There are also three crochet monsters.

I have ~20 days to be ready for Balticon art show. I have... mostly unfinished pieces & unrealised ideas. 20 DAYS! I need to not only do art every day (with ~3 free passes, as it's import to be reasonable) but do *relevant* art every day. Argh! Here, look at the pretty & irrelevant crafting!

I'm trying to work out how one might draw a dragon in the same way as a distant bird. Think the very simple double arch shape of wings, which somehow we all know to interpret as bird, but adjusted so it's clearly a dragon. Do you think any of these work?

Lots of attempts at exceedingly simplified silhouettes of distant dragons. Pencil and brown pen on card.

Today the art/craft win has been actually finishing weaving a cord that I started a couple of weeks ago.
