Maybe in some distant future, there'll be a scaletrains newsletter that won't lead with GEVOs and then proceed to be 50% GEVO by volume.... *Snore*
One of my more unusual auction finds was this from a 2024, a Japanese Government Railways 0-8-0T that someone had very nicely upgraded with DCC and LED lights. It runs, but definitely needs a capacitor to smooth out its performance. Nobody knew what I was, so I scooped it for $10(!)
The New Georgia Railroad knew how to make a properly refined contemporary tourist railroad paint scheme that aged very well. What's the story of that light package on the windshield?
Hi #portfolioday I'm Miles and I'm one of very few people on earth who build model railroads for a living! All contact info is at: interurbanera.com
Wow, Adobe actually came up with a cool tool "re-type" where it ID's fonts that've already been converted to outlines. A really helpful idea...if it wasn't complete dogshit! hahaha
Made another one of a critter enjoying his new IH tractor (drawn from memory)
Drew a pair of farmer critters to take a break from drawing trains on this unseasonably Midwestern summers day here in the bay.
AI sloppists will never know the pleasure of adding a little doodle to a catalog just for fun before you send it off to the printer
Something that brings me joy: my absurdly cute 1 cup Bialetti mokapot
Dear decisionmakers: if costs to operate a vehicle spiral out of control AND transit service is cut, this will destroy any economy. Fully fund and expand transit! Nobody is going to magically make vehicle ownership/maintenance/insurance cheaper anymore. Thanks.
Another shot of my recently completed 0-6-0 for #traintracktuesday
Still some small details to go, but the little ALTA 0-6-0 is fully operational sounds great, and lit.
It bothers me that modern model manufacturers haven't made a "modern" boxspok drivered Pacific since the 1960's(!!) this seems crazy to me. Every pacific in HO since has the old school spoked drivers, most of them just rehashing the same USRA design over and over. PLEASE someone make a new one!
GUTTED: The Escanaba & Lake Superior just scrapped its line of parts donor Baldwins...I can't believe it! The restored RS-12 is still safe of course, but really sad to see all these go I'm just glad I got to visit the crew and tour around them in 2012. I guess I'll cherish that memory even more.
This ex-LNE S-2 would make an incredible weathering project for a contemporary layout
Here's a mystery: what class of locomotive is this supposed to be? Main hypothesis is an americanized japanese tank engine? www.ebay.com/itm/18830179...
ebay find of the day, something I wish @rapidotrains.co.uk could convince @rapidotrains.bsky.social to produce using some of the UK mechs but in HO.
Here's an obscure manufacturer that'll be fun to keep a saved search for if you want postwar residential and commercial buildings in HO that won't be immediately recognized as a Walters' kit. Anybody have a Patal kit!
Oh NHK Japan, never stop being silly. This is an episode about eggplants 🍆
Adding nose grabs to the ex-UP FAs to match photographs of these units in the mid 60s. Thank god they didn't modify much else or I'd never get these units ready in time for BAPM
Terrain update ⚓: adding the very Myst/Riven like bridge into the lighthouse:
Terrain Update: got the gloopy look just right for the log pond
Good prototype freelanced reference: The Cleveland Electric's fleet with both a handsome paint scheme and an amusing reuse of the CE of penn CEntral stencils presumably.
Terrain update ⚓: Getting the mucky pons looking just right, and then adding debris:

Terrain Update ⚓ Using the hot setting on the glue gun to countersink the logs into the log pond seems to work well:
